How many of you capricorns are the over achieving, anal retentive, and hyper-matured?
just wondering

Me! People say this stuff about us? Oh well, it might as well be true!

Of course, everyone has these traits to some degree. I dont think those vague readings which build a personality type for a single sign are that useful.

the direct influence of capricorn on any of the major points in the horoscope almost always plays out. this is especially true when the point in question is the asc, mc, sun, or moon. saturn placed close on an angle also tends to ensure some capricornian things to play out.

im 1st decanate cap rising, sun and venus in cap by solar arc.

we're not all anal retentive.. it really depends on saturn's position by all terms in the chart, as well as the application of the energy. most people with a cap influence have to learn to relinquish control. we're also quite concerned with the longevity, efffiency, and feasablity of anything and everything. if it's not going to last, it's no good to the capricorn type.

that is saturn's thing.. building solid structures that withstand the tests of time. to some it's anal retentive, but such is the nature of form and matter.

hyper matured and overachieving -- that's a gift. no doubt about it.

the saturn/capricorn influence can confer many positive things.. patience, business success, ripen as you mature, tend to have a long life, often comes with a slim wirey figure and promotes a serious, straight to the point nature.

capricorn's big weakness when mishandled is often it's own insecurity. so worried that the structures it builds to protect itself may fail, it can fail to find solid grounding. being an earth sign, it suffers without a firm earth ground for its energy to return to... almost as if loosing its footing.

the capricorn/saturn energy is widely misrepresented in astrology. the lessons and experiences to be had aren't always easy, as saturn is the stern oppositie of jovial jolly ole jupiter type. so, he's not so popular. never mind his dismemberment of daddy in the ranks of mythology.. im sure that really made him a popular fellow..

Yo.

I must be some sort of laid back Capricorn, because I'm pretty chilled about most things. I am pretty mature, but only half the time. And I'm more likely to slack off than try to achieve something. I can be anal about detail though, unless its my detail thats the issue. I'm a hypocrite like that.

I can get stuck on a project, and not let go untill the solution is found.
I can persist in doing something wrong on purpose, for the sake of example.
I can put my foot down and expect my will be done.
I do want to be in control, but I also learnt not to. That was a tough one.
I got rid of my desire to follow patterns, by replacing it with a desire to the opposite, which then, of course, forms a pattern of its own.
I am the mature one, expect to be viewed as the mature one, although I can be silly at times. My sillyness usually shows as cynicism or sarcasm.
I can make mistakes. I still don't like it, though. I got better.
I try to do everything with intent, including being light-hearted about things.
I am the center of my attention.

I had to laugh - I am totally not surprised you are a Capricorn, Xentor.

Anyway, my sun, moon, AND mercury are in Capricorn. What mercuric posted is me in a nutshell, except for the slim wirey bit ;)

Coming back to this forum and reading about Capricorn reminds me why I am the way I am. Not that it makes it easier really, it just makes it.. uhm... more understandable.

excellent :D

the wirey slim figure is most associated with capricorn rising or saturn close to the ascendent (the self) or in the 2nd house (the physical body)

I've always done that :)

It seems normal and accepted in my native language, less so in English.

When I was young, I wanted to be older (30 in fact).

I always wanted to be older.. still do in a way, but not really. i guess im just looking forward to my later years, as i know they will be better than my younger years! :D

What's even more strange, is that I really feel old (well middle-aged is what I said to my mate), but I look really young (mercury trine ascendant).

same with me. i used to look older, until about age 17 or 18, then i actually started looking and feeling younger. us with strong saturn/capricorn influences actually get better with age (up to a point, of course) -- we must properly ripen.

when i was in my early teens most my friends were in thier 40s.. i didnt have friends at school, none of them were serious or focused enough for me. to me, the kids i went to school with were just a bunch of clueless fools with no plan or concept for thier future. parents and college would take care of that, they thought. they cared more to fool around and get laid while i was more worried about my future and building career skills. my main concern as a young teen was training myself for the workforce and getting a job. and it worked... i quit the pointless public education system, interviewed for a job, got hired, and never looked back :D

My husband is all this, he's capi, and me being sag I have to be ever so mindful not to trot all over his insecurities. But for the most part our opposite natures harmonize well as we go through life. He brings me back toward the goal and gives my inspiration form and structure. Thats a capi trait I enjoy.

Saturn conjunct Sun (Libra). When I was young, I wanted to be older (30 in fact).
What's even more strange, is that I really feel old (well middle-aged is what I said to my mate), but I look really young (mercury trine ascendant).

Always been pretty safe (sensible) and cautious. The responsible one.
Overachieved when younger, then under-achieved when older (or maybe it's gone down to a average standard of achievement).

So yeah, would fit the general type of Cappy description.

Eh?? But you haven't got anything in Cappy!

saturn conjunct the sun in a natal horoscope is huge -- IMHO, its more of a cap influence upon the sun than saturn dispositing the sun by sign or house.

I’m a Sun sign Capricorn, with ascending Pieces, so Neptune rules my chart. Neptune in the 8th house - Scorpio trine Saturn in the 12th house - Pieces, and to max out on the twisted logic of my chart Mercury is in the 9th house - Sagittarius. It takes a lot of energy just to stay sane, and if you ask most people they will deny that I am succeeding. It’s good to be a Goat sporting a fishtail!

Welcome to MW, Astro's Logic! Interesting idea about the goat with the fishtail, because the very old name for Capricorn used to be "the goatfish"!

Some see the Capricorn's scaly tail as that of the sea-serpent, a creature of 'old knowledge', wise in matters of the occult and offering a potential for understanding beyond limited, earthly experience. Capricorns are known for being 'older than their years' and those who take up the study of mysteries and traditions gravitate towards a masterly knowledge of their craft just as the business minded Capricorn will gravitate towards the managerial position. Mastery and power are the understated keywords of this sign. Even the earthy aspect of the goat is frequently underestimated in its potential for symbolising hidden reserves of strength.

capricorn is also known as the "seagoat" -- saturn/capricorn comes with a heavy dose of dualism; saturn is more than a stern father. when he's feeling secure, and his days work is done (if that happens to be possible) he can revert to a much more neptunian state.. but only if he can take refuge in the structures he already built; such that the waves generated by those unpredictable neptunian tides wont muddy up the nice new boathouse he just built. neptune escapes to thin air; saturn builds an ark and hunkers down!

your saturn/neptune trine is a very positive aspect to have; you have the ability to bring form to the formless... and to see the beauty even in cold dry structures which would otherwise be boring and tasteless.

the trine also indicates saturn will have alot easier time relaxing and thinking outside of rigid structures, both common problems with an afflicted saturn.

Fluffmeister and mercuric, thank you for the insightful responses. I have been to a few Astrological sites on the web, and it seems to me they were incapable of exchanging information to a large degree because of the formal analytical way they speak about Astrology. That, and they want to hoard knowledge like it was gold or something. I can appreciate that there is a place for chart delineation, but it seems that much more information gets transmitted when a less formal, but well seasoned experience is shared. This is the cement of community identity, and you use it well. Or as Joseph Campbell might have said, ‘You speak the language of the Hero with a thousand faces.’ I look forward to the future here at MW.
