Hi all,
I've got a bit of a question here that maybe you all can help me with. I am still a beginner with the cards and love the opportuinity to roll up my sleeves at a get-together and read cards for people. I get practice and they get a free reading (Im sure you all have been there!)

Anyway as you well know making an evening of reading can be soooo draining emotionally. I normally dont even notice how drained I am at the time...kind of like a hangover I wake the next day exhausted

My cards are kept with bits of quartz and a piece of amethyst...is there a way to 'store energy' into an inanimate object and then 'draw' it while Im reading? Perhaps this gesture would alleviate the day after exhaustion.

I am a stay at home mom...I have very few friends in the area (I live in a VERY rural area) and my family no less than 1000 miles from me. I dont get many opportunites for these 'tarot nights' and I really look forward to the oodles of practice I get. While Im reading I dont feel tired but the next day I do...Are the querants unknowingly drawing energy from me? Or am I just giving away too much energy when I read?

I know it sounds like an odd request for help but I really do enjoy these occasions where I get to do alot of readings...I would hate to make this stop because I love the practice I get. I just dont want to wake up with a 'psychic hangover'

Any ideas?
Thanks a million,
Til next time,

Take a moment between each reading to ground and center yourself and draw up energy from Mother Earth, she has plenty to share. It also helps to release the energy from the previous reading. Sometimes when doing a series of readings we just go one right after the other and forget to ground and center, but it's necessary each and every time and only takes a few seconds to do.

I don't personally find readings at all draining, energy moves through me and over the cards. Maybe you could work at opening yourself to taking in energy as you give it out. I don't klnow which traditions you work in but -- like opening the energy chakra over your head and letting it on. It feels to me rather like the circle breathing where you breathe in and out at the same time and the trick is to *not* try and hold the energy because you can hold and open at the same time. I guess I made a dog's breakfast of that explanation...

I find readings extremely draining as well - I've been told drink a lot of water - as for storing the energy - perhaps you need to ground yourself after each reading as velvet has suggested
