Id like to tell my parents that Im Pagan, but....I dont know how. I cant talk to them because theyll just make a joke out of it, they never take me seriously. Is there a webpage or a book I could give them that would show them?

The best book that I can suggest is Scott Cunningham's "The Truth About Witchcraft Today." Granted, it was published in the mid eighties, but it's still accurate. I own a copy myself simply for the purpose of giving to anyone who has questions about Wicca.

I don't have any recommended reading, I just wanted to say good luck and to stick to your guns. You know in your heart that you're with the Goddess, and She's with you.

Definitely your best bet as far as books go. Explains things very simply and is meant especially for the purpose of explaining paganism to non-pagans.

I would suggest you think long and hard about telling them...what do you gain by doing this, what could you loose. will it really help, or will it make things worse?

Id just like to be more public about it, I dont like hiding things, I dont like keeping secrets (Of course, Im really good at it because I forget half the things people tell me, I know enough dirt on the people at my school to bring the entire social structure CRASHING to the ground and I cant REMEMBER any of it). I have a box under my desk that has all the things in it that I want to use when I finally get my own private space to set up a little altar or dedication table, books I want to read. If I set that up in my room now Id be at the shrink's office so fast I would have to go back and get my clothes because my parents dragged me over there so fast. If I left the books I want to read lying around on my floor, I would see a fireball that would make the Hindenburg look like a match. I cant even light a CANDLE in my house without a 20 minnute lecture. With my luck my parents probably think "Pagan" is a new kind of breakfast food. And my parents have the biggest mouths on them, have you ever seen those huge Whale Sharks? They got those HUGE mouths, look like they could swallow a Hummer and still have room for more. My parents have mouths like that, and theyre REALLY good at using them. Especially to other family members, especially to other RELIGIOUS family members. So, what Im trying to say is, Id like to tell them WITHOUT the nuclear explosion or radioactive dust cloud.

agreed. Granted it feels good not to have secrets from your parents, it might make things uncomfortable. My parents and 1 aunt know, but I would neither gian any pleasure, or give any pleasure by telling the rest of my family and therefore I have not. It's best to make sure you'll be doing the right thing for everyone involved before you do it.

I dont care about the secrets part, Id just like to be able to do something without getting ripped for it. I had a pentagram, made outta metal, I just had it lying on my desk and my mom comes in and sees it. I have never, EVER seen a woman go post-office like that IN MY LIFE. And she didnt even know what the hell it was!
