Every year I think about the prospect of a Yule log. Well, this year I think I will get a Yule log, but then I remembered, I don't know what to do with a Yule log! :falloffch

Do I decorate it like a Xmas tree? Do I burn it (wait, we have a gas fireplace. hmmm...)? Do I use it for a short term altar? Can I put a volleyball on top of it and name it Wilson?

I'm CONFUSED! :ahhhh:

So, in short, what is a Yule log and what do I do with it?

What do you decorate it with? Fabric paint and sequins! Yay! I mean...

Well, what do you guys put on your Yule logs? What kind of designs and stuff?

If you don't have a fireplace where you can burn logs, or the rest of your family doesn't share your religious beliefs there are actually multiple "recipes" for how to make a Yule "Candle". You may be able to find one here (http://www.witchvox.com).

Pine cones, fabric ornaments, popcorn strands. Basically anything that gives good flamage....

How about decorating it with pinecones, ribbons and wishes for the coming seasons, and keep it in a prominant place in your home. On Yule burn it, making sure to keep a piece for the next year. As it burns all your wishes and hopes will be released.

neat thread! i was thinking about burning it outside, at sunrise. but it would be pretty cold. would it burn?
now i'm thinking i should anoint it with some essential oil to make it more flammable. would any oil do, do you think?
