It's amazing how I will copy down the schedule at the beginning of the week, and it changes without me even knowing!!!! A few mornings ago morning I get a phonecall that went like this....

"Why aren't you at work?!"
"Because I'm not scheduled to work."
"Well you are! it's been there all week!"
And you can tell where this goes.....

I politely inform her that I copied down the schedule exactly, and I wasn't supposed to work. I go in ayway and notice my schedule has signs of being erased and edited, when I enquire as to why I wasn't informed I got "well we phoned you and you weren't home yesterday." When I was home all day! ALL DAY and then she started saying she left a message on my answering machine and there was NOTHING!.

So this is where I busted their lies, I decided to photocopy the schedule for this week and take it home. So today I arrive at work when I was scheduled and was told I was "two hours late" so I pulled out the schedule, laid it on the counter and told them "according to the scheudle I am not, and if the schedule has changed you could easily phone me." I said it politely, so to cover their behinds and take the heat of themselves they started to act all like "don't sound so rude" RIGHT....that's a good one! considering the phonecalls I got.

To top it all off as i left today I got in crap for leaving "1 minute early"

This si the fourth time they ahve done this to me,

That sucks. Really really sucks. People can be crappy like that. And I've found that there are many many many people out there (the majority) who will never admit they are wrong, even in the face of undeniable evidence. I know how you feel.

:hugz: I hope that things get better. I would suggest continuing to photocopy the schedule, so that you have proof of what is on there. Is there anyone higher up that you can address this with?

Blessings,

Kalika

Everytime I mention it to my boss it's all "well check your sched. on Monday" and then sluffs me off. I love working in a big chain iof video stores!

Even your boss has someone pulling their strings. Just go over their heads.

You can't show up for work when you don't know you're supposed to. That's why I love a job with 8 hours of work each day. I know when to start and when to quit.

By the way, all phonecalls are registered, so if they say they called and you say they didn't, proof can be find in the call register. Some phone companies include a list of all calls in their bills. Of course, you must be in a big mess (like getting fired) before you can resort to this tactic.

I agree with Xen (as usual!!) - go over your bosses head if you keep having this problem. This could be a discrimination issue, and you shouldn't have to deal with that. Is anyone else having this problem? If not, why? Do you have any other problems with your boss?

My only other suggestion would be to check your schedule EVERY day before you leave work.

Blessings,

Kalika

Your situation reminds me alot of my work experiences.

Their always changing their schedule at the last minute, and most of the time no one is informed. Than we get yelled at. Then, when you tell someone that it wasn't on the schedule at the beginning of the week, your told you should be responsible enough to check more often or you're told that it was there all along and you didn't check well enough. :G

Your ideas of photo copying it is excellent!

Huggles and calm hun((())). I have a friend who did shift work, and they messed her around like this too. She ended up leaving. I hope it won't come to this with you.

Until you get this resolved, I'd suggest you check your schedule daily, before you go home from work. :( And good luck pressing for resolution on this!

The problem is that I only work shifts, so I don't do the whole 9-5 five days a week type of job, so I can't check everyday. Whenever I call in they get "fustrated" over my useless calls but I'e told them that I'll stop calling when there is a concrete schedule in place.....

As far as going above my manager etc. that would require calling long distance to the distict head office of this particular massive video store chain....

Now you know what I'm caught in! :'(

I appreciate the ideas though and it's nice to know i'm not the only one!

God, that's awful. It's plain and obvious sabotage! Photocopying the schedule is a good idea, just make doubly sure, nothing gets turned against you as well in the meantime. I think it's time to look for greener pastures if you can. Hang tough in the meantime.
