Your thoughts and suggestions?

fantine
July 5th, 2001, 04:23 PM
I, for one, am not lurking, I'm just posting very little because I'm at the office right now. I gotta look like I'm going some work today. :D

Then again, if I was home I'd be posting even less due to a major computer equipment failure. My router died so I'm only down to one computer, the LAN is down and I can't work with the server. wah! (And this is at my house!)

So, what are you up to??

Well, it would be rude if we all talked at once... :D

Ya know, the system doesn't always log me out everytime, so it might be that everyone that shows logged on may not be...

...did that confuse anyone besides me?

fantine

Hey Rick!

I think you are confused often!

But you are correct about the mysteries of the computer...I too have seen "ghost" logins. It does tend to get annoying.

Also...remember....people do read this stuff as well!

I do encourage everyone to post though. Speak your mind...start some new threads...etc.

ever noticed how long it takes to look at all the different forums?

Especially for new members, it's nice just to look and see whats about sometimes, don't you think?

I'm posting left and right as usual.

If there was a chatroom here I'd definitely be joining in. Maybe we should all get together in #MysticWicks on IRC at paganpaths.org using
FondDuLac.wi.us.paganpaths.org port 6667
or
toronto.on.ca.paganpaths.org port 6667
or by going to www.paganpaths.org and using the java chat
OR
any other chatroom people would suggest!

This is only a suggestion, I would just find it easier to chat with people there instead of posting repeatedly.

ladyrowan
July 5th, 2001, 06:15 PM
Have thought the same thing myself willow, would be great if we could chat in real time.

Problem with some chatrooms though, you get a lot of 'hecklers' which can get in the way of having a decent conversation with other like-minds.

Only way i can think of is to have a 'group'(?) for members only, otherwise put up with the heckling! haha

The only problems with chat rooms is this:

When someone chats in a chatroom and passes along a good piece of information then that information is LOST in the void. Only the people in the chatroom at that moment will benefit. That is why we chose this medium for exchange of information.

Here we have a fully searchable database FULL of information. And it is growing everyday...

ladyrowan
July 5th, 2001, 06:19 PM
an extremely valid point Mol, a chatroom could NEVER take the place of mysticwick!

And it's great that we can actually read whats been posted before it goes whizzing off up the screen and out of site - i've always found i miss half of what's being said while i'm looking at my keyboard typing!

Still, would be nice sometimes...............?

Myst
July 5th, 2001, 06:20 PM
Well I suppose it's not too much of a problem anyway. I've been on forums where they frowned on you posting a lot of chat on the boards - but it would get to the point where people would post "Jane are you there!?" and "Bob where are you!?" all over the board and it got annoying. I'm just more used to real chat, but mol and ladyrowan you're exactly right.

Besides now with this post people will probably come to chat.

I'm working on a ritual, so what are you guys up to? What would you like to chat about?

P.S. I'm not suggesting we move away from Mystic Wicks the site either, just thought we could chat in a room as well as post here. I've only been at this forum a few days and I LOVE it - intelligent chat, friendly people, and TONS of conversation. I think I've been sitting here for 6 hours just reading posts and replying today :)

I had a headache yesturday, but that was partially due to me driving around the same town for two and a half hours looking for my insurance company.

If you have AIM, a bunch of us sometimes get on and start a chatroom on it...

(I used to have everyone's AIM names in my list, but I got even more bored and deleted most of them.)

So, If you see me on AIM, feel free to say Hi... I'm usually at work, chatting with EW and Mairwen and Mol if he comes on... (I get sooooo much work done, can't you tell?)

If you're like me you use at least 3 or 4 chat proggies at once, so you might consider trying Odigo or Trillian (search Yahoo or Cnet for them) which allow you to use Yahoo IM, ICQ, MSN, AIM, and IRC all on one proggy instead of having a bunch of separate ones.

For me,

ICQ : 122434490
AIM : WillowxRaven
MSN Messenger : willowxraven@hotmail.com
Yahoo : WillowxRaven
and often on IRC at DalNet as psyl0cke

easy download and install under 10 minutes sometimes ......
but chat wil not replace the message boards because as Mol and others said .... it doesnt stay for others to read but it is really nice for sharing and AHEM ONLINE ritual HINT HINT :>
