Use animal products in ritual tools? Or use animal products as ritual tools?

Why do you find frogs in your basement? I dont know... I dont have that problem at all!
Ohhhh your asking me why I asked? Cause I recently came into posession of a bone ( I really need to get my mind out of the gutter) that just begs to be carved and used in ritual... :rotfl: Ok ok... enough with that already. Ack! I am so damn immature at the moment.
It's just that I am a vegitarian and all that gunk... and I dont like killing shyt myself so I was wondering if it would bother any one else to use them... I mean It's not like I'm a PETA supporter or anything, I have three leather coats for crying out loud. But I dont use them ritually or anything...
I am carving the bone no matter what I just dont know if I should use it in ritual or not...

i see no problem with it. but i'm not veggie. do you at least know what kind of bone it is?
about the frogs... i live in the country, and we have a pond in the yard. the basement is sort of only a half basement cause the house is split level and...
ah, heck, they just get in there somehow, and then if i don't go in my basement in summer for a couple of days, i find loads of shriveled teenage froggies. very sad. sometimes i find live ones, tho and then i take them out to the pond.
boring, yes, but you did ask. :p

I'm a vegetarian too, but I'd use animal products as long as they were just things I found. Like I use feathers and stuff like that. I wouldn't kill anything to get parts from it though.

How do you know they are teenage froggies? Ever think of offering them to your local HS or Middle School for disection. If they are already dead I mean... Not like they would be going to waste.
Ok the bone is deer I checked it out... And I asked around for the proper ritual to thank the spirit. I never thought I would have to use one.

 cause their not tadpoles anymore, but their still ickle, so i reckon they're just about hitting the annoying adolescent (sp?) stage.... i really don't know how old they are, it was just a guess. i don't think the schools would want them, cause a.) the froggies are truly shriveled. all dried up, i mean. and b.) the schools around here dissect cows eyes in the bio classes. dunno about the unis, but i really doubt they could use my dried frogs. you're pulling my leg, anyhoo, aren't you?
deer is cool. i'm all into deer myself lately. check out my buck-shed thread in the green room. it's called a gift from the forest. :colorful:

i generally shy away from using animal products in magick (including pearl, coral, feather, leather, etc.); it just makes me feel weird. and if something makes you feel weird, don't use it in magick. recently, however, i set a big spell in motion to get me to the particular location (near the ocean). and i used shells and driftwood that i collected at a beach of that ocean. the shell component is only one of many, but i'm still using them to connect me to that place. and it feels right. so i guess what i'm saying is--how do you feel about it? bone, horn, feather, shell, teeth, pelts, bezoars, hair, fingernails, blood, urine, etc. have a long and distinguished history in magickal practice. there's a lot of power there -- if you feel that you can and want to use it, do it!

Probably not unless it was an antler I found lying around. I'm not a vegetarian but I would never harm an animal just for some alleged ritual purpose. I have a little drum that has a leather cover, from Africa, but I eat beef, so . . .

Yes, if I found the part or if I killed the animal. Ie., if I killed a deer, I would use the meat for food and the antlers for other purposes, etc. Why let part of an animal go to waste? :)
