7pm Thursday July 5th on TLC?

I started watching it, but only caught the first 20 minutes before I had to go do something else :(. It was about 'why', which to me is a lot more interesting than all the shows they've made about 'how' it was built.
But because I had to leave, not even half way into the show, I still don't know 'why'!!

Honestly, I don't think anybody knows WHY or ever will know WHY ~ all we can do is speculate. According to Gwyddon Lore, Stonehenge was built as an astrological temple (to count time for the Solar Great Days, calculate eclipses, and to count time for the Lunar High Days), as well as a temple for weather magic. How do we know if this is even correct? We don't ~ it's that simple. We just don't know.

Totally agree mairwen,we'll never know.
All i know is that they were incredibly intelligent people to have achieved such a wonderful feat.

And the feeling you get when standing by the stones - incredible!

I live near several stone megaliths, not as big as stonehenge, but older.
They had human bones found in them dated at 5-6,000 years old.
Alongside the human bones were bones of ox, cat, deer, hare and fox.
They are all very beautiful places with wonderful feelings of peace about them.
I wish you could all see them.

I missed that show, but along those lines the show made about the book Mists Of Avalon is on at 8:00 Sunday, July 15th. The book was really good so I'm going to try to catch that one.
