It occurred to me last night as I was making my way across an icy parking lot that I seem to use a a mental grounding technique to connect myself to the earth to prevent myself from slipping. I've noticed in the past couple of years though only time I've slipped on the ice is when I'm not focussing.
Anybody else do this?

I haven't, but it sounds like a good idea! :)

yes! i can do that. i try to visualise... damn, hard to explain. i sort of try to imagine weights hanging from my feet, dangling on a thin pole attached to the centers of my soles. the weights are several feet underground. this works very well, even on slopes (very hilly around here.) until i break my concentration or try to run.
i'm going to try and work on the running this year, or at least brisk walking.

I grew up in New England, I learned that trick a long time ago.
I do it so often that it's more like a reflex action, almost like instinct now. :)

Cool, mine is similar, more like long slender spikes on the bottom of my feet that go a foot or into the earth.

Anything that works to keep you from breaking your ankles, is a good thing! ;)
