Well my book of shadows is a loose leaf binder, it is in many ways like a scrapbook, the pages are in different colors, and are all laminated so that I can take them outside even in the rain...
What you wish to have in your BoS is basically up to you, however most collect the rede, some chants, spells, rituals, outlines, calling quarters, sabbats, herbal grimoire, correspondenses etc in theirs... (well at least that is what I've heard... ;) )
I also collect information on tarot and runes and other divinatory methods, I have another book in which I save my tarot readings and runespreads, dreams I've had and things like that...
Before you start your BoS you might want to consider a few things: Are you the only one who is gonna use it? Will a binder be a good idea? what is important to have in it, and what can you do without? Do you feel it is important for it to be handwritten? etc. Or perhaps a DoS (having your Book of Shadows on your computor) is a better idea? And then there is the material in it, should it all be made/written by you or should you include others work? etc etc
It might be a good idea to look at others BoS to get a good idea on how you would like yours to be. :)
Blessings and good luck

I'd say do whatever feels right for you, but I'd try to include everything Elfva says! :D
