does anyone know of any spells or rituals or anything a beginner could do without much resorces, because I read about all these spells, but it does nothing, cause I'm a hands on kind of person, but I don't have enough money to get things like athames, oils, such and such. So does anyone know of any simple spells that I could use, just by finding stuff in my "own backyard"?

Just finding stuff in your backyard is the best way to go, IMHO. There's more of a connection when you make your own tools. That's all they are...just tools to be used & controled by you. All the bells & whistles are nice but it doesn't beat finding the perfect stick to make your own wand. Take a meditation walk in a park & see what you can find.
As for oils, you can make your own. You can use olive oil as your base & add some herbs to it to scent & make your own magical oils. There's a couple of good threads in the Green room for infusing your own oils. Use things that are special to you. For instance, I use a bowl my son made me for mother's day one year. It's really lopsided & kinda lumpy but it has more magic in it than any bowl made of gold.
You will build up your collection of "tools" over time.

Well, as for tools, a table knife can serve as an athame if you don't have one... really, you don't have to buy expensive tools, use whatever you can find at home, you'll eventually exchange them for other tools that you come across... and also you might ask the god and goddess for a little help in that area. :)

We actually had a thread...way back when...which was about our first tools.
My first athame: A letter opener.
And I still have it. Black electrical tape around the handle and all.

When I first studied witchcraft and later wicca, I was always told
by the elders that a pagan is suppose to make all or most of her
tools and all should be simple. I personally do not need athames,
chalices and pentacles. But it is an individual's decision.

You could check out Mols very first Lesson in this forum. It should be on the last page called "Magick-Lesson 1" or what not. You will notice it. There is a very easy ritual that works for me every time. Thanx Mol! It helps8O Anyways check that out. About the tools I am in the same boat as you... Need to get some, I mainly just use candles. I think that I am going to go all out when I finally move out. My house is not exactly witch friendly8O

Some say you need to make all your own tools, others say you must have your tools given to you. Well I'm not crafty, and at the time I was dating someone who thought Witchcraft was a joke and all my friends don't have enough money for their own tools. So I just bought them when I found them. The only one I've been given is my wand.
I use them all the time but I have a lot of friends who can't afford to buy tools or don't want to use them anyway so don't feel you need you have to be rich or ultra crafty to be a Witch.
