This morning I got a call from the local hospice to tell me that a little girl named Jessie was asked if there was anything she wanted. She asked if the lady with hugs that reads could come to her house. It took a bit to figure out that meant me. See I never had met Jessie until today.
She had seen me at the hospital and hadn't been allowed in because she was vulnerable to infection. So thanks to the hard work of a care giver named Tracie, I was found and went over today, and crawled in bed with Jessie and read her stories. We even took a nap together
When we were talking she asked me if I thought it was weird that she wanted me to come, since I didn't even know her. And I smiled and said nope! not at all And as we were talking we talked about you guys here at MW I told Jessie that there are people here I love and want to meet and hold, that I don't even know, so it makes perfect sense to me.
Here is where I NEED ALL OF YOU! See I promised Jessie that you all care about her too, even though you don't know her. She knows she only has a few days left on this planet, and she is the bravest brightest light I have ever met. I told her I was going to start a thread for her (and her aunt will print out EVERY response for her to read).
Jessie would like to hear where you live in the country or the world. If you celebrate Christmas like she does or if you are a witch like me (she thinks that is very funny) if it's cold or warm where you are, and if you have any stories about me (remember she is 11! giggles).
So PLEASE for the next few days leave a note or two to Jessie, and words of encouragement or maybe your favorite books, and answer her questions. I am sure this gift to Jessie can be one of the finest threads we ever worked together on.
I will be spending as much time with my new friend as I can these next few days and reading many stories.
I will tell you she is a brave and amazing spirit and I am the one that was blessed by her request!
I love you Jessie!

Hi Jessie!!
Merry Meet! I just read Hope's post. Sounds like she has found quite a friend in you!
My name is Z. I live in Washington, DC ... the nations capitol! Maybe about 3 miles from where the president lives. I've never met him. But I did see President Clinton drive by in his limo once. DC a wonderful city with lots of old, beautiful buildings and lots and lots of trees.
It's been kinda cold here lately. http://mysticwicks.com/images/smilies2/coldaa.gif Well, I guess it's December so it's supposed to be cold. I have to wear my warm coat.
I'm in Delaware for vacation now! Not to far from the ocean. It's beautiful here but cold too. http://mysticwicks.com/images/smilies2/coldaa.gif But, it's my favorite time to sit outside in the hot tub under the stars. You have to run really fast to the hot tub but once your in it's wonderful! I bet you'd love it too! Sometimes when I'm floating there in the hot tub looking up at the star filled sky I realize how very small I am in the realm of things but how cool it is to be part of it all! Have you ever had an experience like that?
I'm a witch and so I celebrate Yule but I also still celebrate Christmas. They're kind of the same thing, both are celebrating the birth of the god. Seems like a good reason to celebrate to me!
Hope said you're not feeling very well so I'm sending you lots of healing energy and lots and lots of hugs!
Brightest Blessings, Sweet Pea! I'll be keeping you in my prayers!

Hi Jesse:
My name is J. and I live just west of you in Tumwater, WA. I live about an hour from everything; the ocean, the mountains, the rainforest, the city. I feel fortunate to live in such a varied and beautiful place. Right now its just cool and rainy, but we want snow.
I have a five year old son(on 24th 5), whom I love to share the wonders around us with, and he would like to say "Hi" to and sends one of his special hugs and kisses.
Here we celebrate both Yule and Christmas and enjoy the love and joy spread throughout this season. Our only wish is that the love and joy could extend through the rest of the year.
We send you love and many bright blessings. :hugz: :smoochypo
We look forward to hearing from you!!!

Hello Jessie!:)
My name is Kellie and I live in North Carolina. I am married and have 2 children, Dakotah (my son) who is 8 and Savannah (my daughter) who is 7. We have 2 puppies, 1 cat, 1 parakeet, 1 garter snake and 1 African clawed-toe frog. The frog's pretty slimy, b/c she has to live in water. She doesn't look like any frog I've ever seen.
I celebrate Yule and Christmas, and really love this time of year. We moved over Thanksgiving, so I don't have all the decorations up, but we have a tree and stockings and a few outside lights. I think of this time of year as a time of going inside yourself and tending your inner fire....being a bright shining light, like you are.
My children want to tell you hello and to send you a hug:huddle:. You are in our prayers and have touched our hearts. :heartthro

Hi Jesse! I live in NE Ohio, and we get lots of snow. It is okay by me, because I love it! I have a little girl who is 11-1/2 years old, and her name is Mercedes. She has blonde hair, and she loves snow too. We have a dog and 2 cats (my daughter brought the cats to us). I have a husband, Mercedes' dad, and we have been married 13-1/2 years. I like to figure skate, and my daugher likes to practice gymnastics. We celebrate Yule at home and Christmas with family. I am a wytch, and my daughter is just a girl right now...:hehehehe: , but she celebrates Yule and Christmas too. She learns a lot about different spiritual paths, because we have so many friends and family; some are Christian, some Pagan and some are Muslem. :). Hope to hear from you soon, and Mercedes says hi to you too. :floating: :floating:

Hi Jessie!
My name's Heidi, I'm 14 and I live in New York. I have a little sister named Abbey that's the same age as you. I have three cats and a dog called Gwen; she's very cute! It's cold here now, but I love it when it snows for Christmas. My dog hates the snow, she walks on three legs whenever she has to go out in it so she doesn't have to get all her paws wet! Does it snow where you live?
Have you ever read the Harry Potter books? Those were my favorite when I was eleven (Actually, they still are! :shhhh: ). What movies do you like? I love 'Finding Nemo' and 'Pirates of the Carribean'. Abbey rolls her eyes at me when I say I like Nemo because its a Disney movie, but I can't help it, that clownfish is so cute!
I'll try to post again tommorrow, because I have nothing to say right now...
Merry Christmas Jessie!
Love,

Hiya! My name's Rhiannon. I'm 14, and I live right next to Washington DC! I've never seen the president in person though. I do go to the National Mall quite a bit though, because it's very pretty there and there are lots of interesting people. Every year there is a folk festival that me and my best friend go to.
I love to read. Have you ever read Lord of the Rings? That book was my favorite when I was 11. I also really like the book Alice in Wonderland, by Lewis Carroll. Have you ever seen the disney movie based on it? Lewis Carroll is just a pen name though, the authors real name was Charles Dodgerson! He was a mathematician, and nearly everything he wrote has hidden puzzles in them, if only you know where to look.
It's getting very chilly where I live, and just last weekend it snowed! Not enough to miss school though, hehehe. I have to make sure I put on a big sweater before I go outside!
If you can get on a computer, my AIM screen name is RhiannonAmoungUs.
Merry Christmas!

Hi Jessie! :)
My name's Kristen, and I live in Mountain View, California, which, like it's name, has a wonderful view of the mountains. I grew up in Massachusetts, right up the street from the beach. Have you gotten a lot of snow this winter? That's one thing I don't miss too much - the cold!
By what Hope says, I'm guessing that you like to read. What are your favorite books? I love tales about King Arthur, and both 'Lord of the Rings' and 'Harry Potter' are great as well.
I hope you and your family have a very happy holiday season!

Hi there Jessie. My name is Jennifer, I live in Ontario Canada. There's lots of snow here right now. When I was younger I used to love making snow angels. I remember how crisp and beautiful they looked in the sparkling snow. Knowing that you've touched Hopes heart as well as many of the rest of us; reminds me of the sparkling magic that a snow angel creates. I'm going to go outside tomorrow and make a snow angel and send its magic your way.
I'm 28 and my husband is 27, his name is David and sends his blessings to you.
We have a lot of pets as well, and today we went to a pet store and got some toys for them as gifts. We have 4 cats, 1 dog, 1 love bird, 1 rabbit and a fish named George! hehe. We have a regular zoo here. We don't have any children yet, hopefully soon we will.
I wanted to make sure that I sent you warm wishes and blessings for the holiday... so here they are. Love and Light to you and your family, you're in our thoughts.
Be Blessed,

 Well hello Jesse! Nice to meet you! My name is Beth. I live in South Florida where it's a little warmer than where White Dragonfire lives. It's in the mid to high 70's here during the day right now, and in the 50's at night. Although that probably sounds really warm to you, we are all freezing!
I have a 14 year old daughter, and 10 year old son who are both members of the MW community - as well as my husband. I too am a witch and have been for over 25 years. Both of my children are coming along nicely in the craft as well. We are also Wiccan, which is not necessarily the same as being a witch.
We have a little old dog named Sir Scruffy (because no matter WHAT you do he still looks scruffy), and a cat named Honeykit that is completely insane most of the time. She likes to run into walls at top speed for no apparent reason.
I've never read Harry Potter, I'm more into Charmed. I watch every show and have read all the books... not because that is what a real witch is like, but it would sure be cool to be able to freeze things or blow them up!
Hope is a wonderful friend to have. I'm so glad you have found each other. I'm also very glad you have found us too. You sound like such a wonderful person. I'm sure we'd all like to get to know you better and find out what you like to do too.

Greetings, Jessie!
My name is Xentor. I live on the other side of the planet, in Europe. It's quite cold here, but still warmer than normal. I want to see some snow!
I'm not a witch, nor do I celebrate Yule. But I'm no christian either and to me, christmas is a social gettogether. Most of my family does celebrate christmas and I join them.
Although I'm not a witch, I can do magic! I could pull a bunny out of a matchbox, make lots of flowers appear instantly, turn my gloves into a white dove, make wine from water and pull money from a tree!
You're truly blessed with a friend like Hope. Bright blessings and lots of love.

December 21st, 2003, 05:52 AM
Hi Jessie my name is Rain and I live in England near a lake and some woods. It's really sunny here today but still a bit cold. I'm hoping for some snow because I want to go sledging.
I've lived in lots of places in Europe including Spain where I lived in a tent on the beach. It was really hot and sunny and sand got everywhere! I also lived in a castle in France which was haunted by a ghost that didn't like people vacuuming. My favourite place was Austria where it was very cold but there was lots of snow and I got to go sledging all the time. I used to like skiing but I keep falling over so I figured if I start by sitting down then it can't go wrong.
I'm a witch too but I celebrate the winter solstice. Tonight when it gets dark we're going to light a big fire outside and then we all stand in a circle around it holding candles. One person lights their candle from the fire and then they make a wish for the coming year. The flame then gets passed around the circle by each person lighting their candle from the person next to them until everyone has a lit candle. Each person gets to make a wish. We sing a song and then go inside taking our candles and have a big meal. Even though I don't celebrate Christmas I still get gifts.
I'll be thinking of you tonight Jessie and i'd like you to make a wish with us.
Warmest greetings
Rain

Hello Jessie!
I'm Tiana, and I live in San Diego with my husband and 2 year old son. We live fairly close to the ocean, and the longest pier of the west coast. I'm not a witch, I'm an Arcadian, wich is some one who worships nature and the elements.
I celebrate christmas, just like you, with my familly and my friends. It's been cool here, and wet, kinda unusual weather for southern California;).
Although, I am originally from Oregon, near Portland, same with my husband. We grew up together and dated in high school. You are a truly lovely girl to find a friend like hope, and we are truly lucky that she helped us find you.
when we close our eyes tonight(my family and I) we'll be thinking of you and sending our best wishes.

Hi Jessie!
I think it's so great that you love Hope as much as we do, and that you wanted to meet us. Hope and I are friends through MW. She and I like to put our heads and hearts together with more of our friends to send out love and good thoughts for people.
One of my great-grandmas was named Jessie, and I adored her when I was a little girl, so I feel like we already have something in common.
My husband and I live in Texas, and right now it's not cold here at all during the daytime. When I was about your age, I lived in Germany, and loved to sled and ice skate, so sometimes I miss snow. It's so pretty and bright and quiet. Do you have snow?
At my house we celebrate Yule and Christmas. For Yule, we have friends over, light a big Yule log in our fireplace, and once it's going, we light candles and say a few prayers for the new year. Then we eat a nice dinner together. Did you know that Yule is the longest night of the year? It's the winter solstice, and so what we celebrate is the returning of the light - that the days will get longer again - and that springtime and summer sun will warm up the world and make everything grow.
I'm a witch, too, but I'm not Wiccan - I'm sort of out on my own. There are lots of different kinds of witches, and none of the ones I know are like the ones on TV or the movies. To me all deep faith is magic, and we can all be magical. And I think we're all connected with each other and everything else. Maybe because I feel that way, it's easy to love people I've never met. And I think what Lamoondove said is exactly right:
I always use to say everyone says we are different ,,
but really we are all just the same..... :flowers: ..
we are only different to add joy to the world.....
in our own little way .... :flowers:
Anyway... I just wanted to say hello. It's nice to meet you (((Jessie))) :hugz: and I want to send you love, with energy for strength, comfort and relief, for you and all who love and care for you. Don't be scared. There's a lot of love all around you and all of us, even when we can't always feel it.

Hi Jesse,
I am Angie to those who know my playful side :) I live in a little town in the middle of New Hampshire, where it is already very cold and snowy. I have a fiance Jason, and two cats. Isabel a blue point balinese (a fancy kitty) who is a proper lady and very loving. She always wants to be cuddled and get attention. Her favorite place to sit is on top of a book you are trying to read :) I also have a black housecat Rufus, who is always getting in trouble. His favorite thing to do is to scratch all the things he isn't supposed to. He also likes to roll on your feet when they are wet from the shower.
I am a witch too, but Jason isn't, neither is the rest of my family, so I celebrate both Yule and Christmas. We don't have many decorations because of Rufus, but make lots of yummy treats. We treat Christmas as a time to share love and Jason makes lots of fudge for people.
Know you are in the thoughts and prayers of many!!!
Hugs and Blessings!!

Ooops I forgot a picture. Jason and I play something called a LARP, it is a game where grown ups play pretend, and dress up in silly costumes and act out things. In this picture Jason is pretending to be an elf and I am pretending to be an angel.

Hi Jesse:
After we said "Hi" yesterday, Galen was thinking of his birthday and said something I had to share.
He said "Mommy, I wish everyone could have as many birthdays as they want. Could you send her mine so she can have a buch more?"
It brought tears to my eyes. So we send you much love and if Galen can figure out how he will send you his birthday.
Many Bright Blessings

Hi Jessie, I'm glad both you and I have a chance to know and be friends with Hope (isn't that the perfect name for her?) :)
I live in Kansas, but there aren't any tornados at this time of year, instead we have another snow storm moving in and not all the snow from the last one has melted yet.
I got to celebrate Yule with my friends last night and we all traded gifts. I made ornaments for their trees from sparkly pipe cleaners and crystal beads in the shape of pentagrams (a star inside a circle). I received a string of prayer beads and some beautiful wooden runes.
I'll be celebrating Christmas with my family later this week. And then celebrating again with friends at New Year's Eve. I'm sorry you have to spend Christmas in the hospital this year but I'm sure Santa still knows how to find you there. You do believe in Santa don't you? I still do, even though I'm a gramma now. We always go out looking at Christmas lights on Christmas Eve and Santa comes by to leave presents while we're gone. It's a wonderful tradition. What tradition does your family celebrate?
bright blessings and warm hugs

Greetings Jessie! My name is Holly and I'm 14 years old. I live in Garfield hts, about 15 minuets from Cleveland. It's really cold here around 20 yesterday! I celebrate both Yule and Christmas. This is my first year celebrating Yule though. A book I adored when I was 11 and still do is Ella Enchanted. It's a spin on the Cinderella(sp?) story and it's super cool!
my bird Cayden and I send lotsa hugs and love.

Smiles Jessie is loving all of your notes, and we talked about each of you. I tried to tell her what I know and love about you. She said to thank you all! and she wishes the medicine didn't make her forget so much stuff. But they keep rereading them to her. (That is great for her, and for the family memebers that wish there was something they could do)
She is not doing very well and while the hope was that she would make it till after christmas, it will truly take a miracle it seems.
She can not get on the computer, and can no longer hold a book herself, she is very weak. She can see out a bedroom window and watch the sunrise but not the sunset. We live in Idaho so she can see the stars in the sky at night. We don't have snow only wet and she is hoping for snow for Christmas.
She likes Harry Potter and Dr. Seuss (we have been reading a lot of that) and in fact the lawyers went and bought every Suess book they could find for her.
She is a great artist and sketched many pics. Their belief is in Jesus and she knows she will get to go to heaven and see him, and drew many pics of what she thinks it will be like there. She also hopes she can look down on her brothers and sisters and her mom and be their angel. But she thinks she needs permission from god, so she is trying to be a good girl so he will let her.
She has a cat a BIG FAT grey cat ~smiles~ named hooter and he knows she isn't well he lays next to her and purrs and comforts her. She is allergic to him, and he isn't supposed to be to close to her breathing, but everyone agrees -- her comfort and happiness are more important than rules at this point. She is on a lot of morphine and so not really in pain. Hospice is doing a great job keeping her comfortable. This part of the thread will not be printed for her to have and was approved by her mother.
Her mom wants to say thank you all for caring about her little girl. In all of this it's been the people that have made it bearable and while she would give anything to keep Jessie she knows it isn't meant to be. But when she sees that Jessie can live on in so many of you, and touch you, it helps. She was crying when she told me to find some way to thank all of you....
and so am I -- my prayer is you all know already how much your words mean.
thanks!
and
love

I think Jessie should be a good reason for us all to hug our children tonight, spend a little time with them just reading to them, telling a story, or just being together. We should hug our kids and tell them how much they mean to us, how much we love them. :heartthro They are gifts from The Gods and are not to be taken for granted. Sometimes everyday routines keep us from seeing this as much as we should. :huddle: Spread some love in honor of this brave little spirit named Jessie this Yule! :floating: :hugz:
Blessings to you Hope, for being such a good friend to her and her family as well. Blessings to all of you who have been replying, and those who will continue to add to this thread. It is good to see love and care spreading in a time when someone is in need.
Blessed Yule, all of you. :nyah:

((((((jessie)))))))
hi there kiddo!
so I'm moonchild (at least that what some folks call me;) ) and i live way up in the northern part of NY (near Canada!) if you want to find it, find albany NY and go straight up! we have LOTS of snow up here, due to 2 huge snow storms over the last 2 weekends! snow days for the kids around here!
I don't have any kids (yet!) but i work with a great bunch of kids, some your age!
we kinda celebrate christmas, but its mostly time for my family to get together. I guess you could say that we celebrate the holiday and family. our family makes lots of things for each other. my mom sews, my dad works with wood, and i do lots of crafty stuff. plus we all cook! lots of sweets for everyone! i helped my mom make maple fudge and chocolate-peanut butter fudge....yum!
i heard that you have a cat! i have two that i consider to be my kids! they are Jane and Kylie. i love them to pieces! i also have 2 turtles (Sam and Sal) and 4 leopard geckos (Claudia, Lestat, Louie and Ocho). the geckos are like the one on the commercial for geico insurance but they are yellow with black spots! they are the best! our turtles are watching me right now as i type this to you! :) oh! we also have a blue lobster that we adopted/rescued! we thought he was a crayfish but he started to turn blue!!! how odd to have an animal that is blue!! of course i also have yellow geckos! so maybe the blue lobster isn't all that odd! hehe!
well, hugs and warmth to you and your family ((((((hugs))))))))

Hi Jessie!
My name is Star and I loved books when I was your age too! They helped a lot when I was in the hospital. You see I was born with an out-of-whack ticker, you might say a broken heart lol! The doctors had to patch me up and I still have the scar. I remember leaving my body during the surgery and a nice lady, a goddess I think, held me while I watched the doctors operate on me. She visited me after the surgery too and helped me not to be scared. I was lucky to have her just as you're lucky to have a good friend like Hope.
We've just had snow. It's Yule today and I went to the river to send prayers out to my ancestors. I tell them I love them and that I'm thinking of them. Sometimes it feels like they are nearby. The snow was all along the riverbank and the water was laughing. We fed crackers to a squirrel. We could hear him munch on the crackers from 20 feet away! The sun felt warm and the snow will probably melt by tomorrow.
I'm looking forward to Christmas. Although I'm not a Christian my husband's family is, so we go and visit with them. It's a lot of fun. I get to goof off with my mother-in-law and play with my nephews and nieces.
I can't hardly wait for spring. I want to plant a garden and make a rock garden. I want to make three spirals out of rocks to represent the Sacred Triskele, land, sea and sky. I want to grow vegetables and flowers and herbs. I especially want to grow cantaloupe. It's my favorite fruit!
Blessed Yule Jessie! May you have a Merry Christmas! I'll whisper on the wind and put in a good word with Santa for you!

I'm a witch too, so I celebrate Yule as a time to be thankful for all the wonderful things and people who have been a part of my life over the past year, and to look forward to all the wonderful things and people who will be a part of my life in the year to come. Besides, it's a good time to eat lots of cookies and give gifts to the people you care about......and the best gifts are our smiles and our love...So I'll eat an extra cookie for you and send you the gift of a smile and my love.....Peace and Blessings to you little one...

Heya, Jessie! :D
How nice--we even share a name! :D I usually go by Stormwolf Avatar here, though, but you can call me Stormwolf for short. I'm 20, and I live in a little town called Champaign, Illinois. (It's way out there, south of Chicago. I wouldn't be suprised if you've never heard of it--very few people I know have!) I'm a Wiccan who's studying more about it. (And you thought study stopped in school? ;) )
As for Christmas things...well, the rest of my family is Christian, so I celebrate Christmas with them. I also celebrate Yule with all my friends here at the boards and here in town. No interesting stories from here yet, but I'm sure they'll be coming.
So you like books, eh? Cool. :D What kinds do you like to read? I like to read a lot of different books on a lot of different subjects, though I really like books on travel, different languages, and different people. Sounds wierd, but it can actually be pretty cool. I also like books on art or poetry. Do you also like poetry?
Well, I won't tie you up too long. No doubt you've got loads of stuff happening on your end. Take care, and have a very Merry Christmas and a wondrous New Year. :D
TwoPaws,
Stormwolf A.

Hi Jessie!
My name is Jennifer. I'm 27, I'm in the army, and I'm in Iraq right now. It's warm during the day, cold at night, and always very sunny here. I have a little sister named Ashley. She is 10, so almost the same age as you. :) She likes to read, too, and she likes to take care of her birds. She has two parakeets, a green one and a blue one, and also a whole bunch of chickens. I like birds, too, but I like cats better. This is a picture of my cat, Molly, but I'm not sure if I put it in the right way. Molly is gray, like your kitty. Everyone says she is very pretty and sweet. I hope she makes you smile. I know seeing kitties always makes me smile. You've been doing such a good job of hanging in there, just keep up the good work. :huddle: to you and you family, and you can say a soldier said you were brave.

I wish I had some pictures to post for you, but we have no digital camera, or a scanner that is operational right now.
I want to say thank you, you've done something very special for me. You've helped me remember a very special friend, who was also named Jesse. She was 14 when she passed away, and I had almost forgoten her and everything we had done together.
If it hadn't been for you, she migth have totally faded form memory, thank you so much, Jesse. *hugs* May your best wishes come true.

Hi Jessie!! You sound like a very special, bright girl..I'm so glad that your friend Hope told us about you :colorful:
I live in Saint Louis, have a daughter who is a little older than you,and a cat named Foggy..I've been up in the Arch( I HATE the teeny elevators they use to get you up inside of the Arch.. :hairraise ..but once I was up there it was neat because you can see just about the whole city :hehehehe:
My daughter says hello and my cat says a meow hi...She's the only cat I've ever seen that hops on her back legs like a kangaroo when she gets really excited  ..Foggy has a little stuffed blue Furby that's her favorite toy...and if you throw it enough for her, she'll start hopping on her back feet with excitement..
Ask Hope to tell us what some of your favorite things are..everyone here would love to hear more about you..what are your favorite foods, colors, animals??? Do you like to listen to music???...Do you still like to watch cartoons...like me...I know you're eleven now and not a baby anymore..but I'm OLD and I love SpongeBob and have a SpongeBob winter hat..also,do you believe in Fairies??Have you ever seen one???or two...or a trillion???
My favorite books are the Chronicles of Narnia..I loved them when I was a kid and I still love them, maybe because the animals can talk..which I think animals can anyway..what are your favorite books??
Do you like to paint and draw?? If you do then maybe we could see some of your stuff.. :floating:
Do you like to write in a diary?? My kid and I both do..and who do you think is really cute on T.V.?? ( :shhhh: we promise we won't tell anyone..just between you and me Jessie,my daughter says to tell you she has a huge crush on Leonardo Di Caprio )
So please let us know more about yourself..maybe Hope could even post a pic of you if you don't mind?? I'm going to read everyone's posts now because maybe you've already told us more about yourself and I'm missing out!!
We Love You Jessie!!!
We're sending lots of prayers and love your way.. :huddle:

Jessie, I almost forgot to tell you about my favorite books! When I was your age, I loved Dr. Seuss, too. I used to read a whole lot, and still do. Once in a while, I still love to pick up my Winnie the Pooh books, or Charlotte's Web, and curl up to read them all over again a big mug of hot chocolate. I wish I had a daughter just as wonderful as you are to share books and cocoa with me.
And I think all the Harry Potter books are so much fun, too - I always wish I could play Quidditch! Dobby always makes me laugh, and Hermoine's so smart. A friend here at MW gave me an owl on my banner that looks just like Hedwig! But I would have to say that Professor Dumbledore, Professor McGonegal are almost always my favorites. And Hagrid, too... he's always into something. Who are your favorite characters?

Thanks you all for helping touch Jessie and her family. Jessie died this morning. When I got there at 7 she had been having a restless night.
By about 8 she was "asleep" and no one was able to wake her up and she died a little before 10.
She seemed to have just gone to sleep and never woke up. Her little brother and sister had really wanted to have the holiday with her, but we talked this morning and all agreed that Jessie got her present early cause she is an angel in heaven watching over them.
The funeral will be on the 26th.
I was very blessed to get to know Jessie, she was a truly amazing little soul, that was wise beyond her years. This morning she asked me if angels get to read to children and help them. I told her that if they don't I was pretty sure she and Jesus could work something out. She also asked me why I started reading to kids, and I told her because I am selfish, I get so much out of getting to know little people.
Nods -- some of you think I did this all for Jessie, but in truth I can never thank her for all she taught me these last couple of days, and I will keep her in my heart forever.

Hi Jesse,
I celebrated Yule last night with my kitties who loved to be there for my ritual.
I love books and always have, when I was your age I read a lot by Judy Blume and books about the borrowers, little people that lived in the walls and took items from the big people to use for other things. I also liked the Little House on the Prarie books.
Harry Potter is wonderful and I have read all but the most recent. I would have loved to go to Hogwarts.
I don't have much to say today, but wanted you to know I am thinking of you!!

This is hard to accept, but best that Jessie didn't hold on to suffer through more pain, and that she ran into the open arms of her beloved Jesus. May her happy soul be welcomed and cherished. And may all her loved ones find strength together, and peace and comfort from their grief by remembering the love she gave them, and in keeping her love alive through kindness. With deepest hope I will concentrate on the lessons for peace and strength offered in Phillippians 4 in my meditations for them.

I can see her bright spirit. She is an angel. She had plenty of light and help to make her passage and that makes a difference. Surrounded by prayers and best wishes and received in love in heaven by Jesus and his helpers, just as some have prayed for They have a Christmas tree there for her. There are little drummer boys on the tree. She made a good passage.

Hi Jesse!
My name is Zeph and I live in the mountains of Tennessee. I am a Witch and my family and I are getting ready to celebrate the Yule holiday tonight. I just wanted you to know that we are thinking of you. Many blessings to you and your family! May the holiday spirit hold you tight.
I see I am too late, but I think she will know. May the goddess hold you tight, dear Jessie.

Candle lit for the little sweet soul.
May she know peace and surcease from pain.
May she know how she brought a community together
to show the love that is present in all of us everyday for our
fellow travellers of the road.
Sleep well little pilgrim.
We are pilgrims on a journey/ And companions on the road,
We are here to help each other/ Walk the mile and bear the load.
I will weep when you are weeping,/ When you laugh I'll laugh with you.
I will share your joy and sorrow/ 'Til we've seen this journey through.

Dear Jessie,
My name is Regi, and I live in the state of Maine. The sun rose today with brilliant colors... and the air was pure and crisp, and now as I write this the sky is a brilliant red, with blue streaks.
I am 38 years old and I am a witch. I celebrate Yule and I also celebrate Christmas with my family. My youngest daughter (6 yrs) is a Christian by her own choice... I remember as a 3 yr old she talked about working for baby Jesus when she was a big girl... Im sure she and I will have many interesting discussions when she is older, and i would not be surprised at all if she becomes a minister.
We have a yule/Christmas tree, and we send out holiday cards. We bake cookies and we watch holiday programs on TV. Regardless of our beliefs or the beliefs of others we try to treat others with kindness and we accept that everyone has a different path.
While I was reading this thread, my youngest daughter caught me crying, and asked me what was wrong. I told her about a young girl who was very ill named Jessie. Then I read that you had passed on, My little girl gave me a big hug, and told me you were in heaven now. I know that you will find peace and joy where you are going hon. May Jesus welcome you with open arms and the angels sing your name. When I pass I know that I too will feel joy and peace...and when my journey is done, I hope that you and I can meet, because I firmly believe we all end up in the same place in the end.
I am lighting a candle for your family dear... they will need our support now, as you are in heaven with the angels, watching over them...
My love you to and your family...

My daughter, who is 11-1/2 (pictured in an earlier post in this thread), has been talking about the subject of death and dying for a while now. It seems it is something that has been on her mind, and she has been fearing it. She is healthy, but her spirit is questioning and curious as to what happens to us when we pass. I had her read this thread. To see all the different folks of different paths come together to support this young child on her own path, journey and eventual crossing is something of its own right. It gave my daughter some sort of comfort, perhaps not an answer, but a comfort and strength to see such a young soul face the change so bravely and with so much love surrounding her.
From Mercedes: I feel sad. I wish you did not have to die. I think every kid should deserve time to live. I wish I could have known you. I bet we would have been good friends.

I will light a candle when I get back from work. *sniff* Have you guys ever been in contact with a little person when they know they will die? It seems they're wise beyond their years. It's very interesting to listen to what they have to say.*sniff*
May you find the eternal love in the Summerland, or heaven, which ever is luckiest to have you first!

I wish I had storeis to tell to help Jessie. I can send my thought and prayers to her though.
I live in Newnan, Georgia, which is just outside of Atlanta. It's cold here now, finally. It didn't start to get really cold until the week of Thanksgiving. We've seen no snow. Personally, I've seen it only 3 times in my life.
I celebrate both Yule and Christmas. My husband, Shawn, isn't Wicca/Pagan like I am. But we both respect each others views, so we celebrate both ways!! It's fun!!
I have 2 kids. Shawn Layne is 10 and in the 4th grade. Tera Lynn is 15 months old. She trying to talk. I don't work--I stay at home with Tera all day. Well, I guess that's owrk, but in a different sense!!!
I ahve 2 sisters and 1 brother. I am the oldest of the 4. My sister Sari is 23 and a nurse at the hospital. My other sister Amber is 17 and a senior in high school. My brother, Steve is 19. He is a Marine, stationed in Hawaii. My parents and 2 sisters live about 2 1/2 hours from me in Montgomery, Alabama. We go to vist them every 2 weeks.
We moved to Montgomery on my 15th birthday in 1992 from Louisiana. I was born in Beaumont, Texas and lived there until I was 7 motnhs old. We then moved to Louisiana. My parents are both from Louisiana and I lived there up until we moved. Now I'm here, in Georgia. I like it, but I have no friends here. They're all in Alabama.
Well Jessie, I hope you liked my story. I didn't have alot to say. But I hope you enjoyed it anyways!! Be safe!!

[QUOTE=Hope]....Thanks you all for helping touch Jessie and her family. Jessie died this morning. When I got there at 7 she had been having a restless night.
By about 8 she was "asleep" and no one was able to wake her up and she died a little before 10.
She seemed to have just gone to sleep and never woke up. Her little brother and sister had really wanted to have the holiday with her, but we talked this morning and all agreed that Jessie got her present early cause she is an angel in heaven watching over them....
Hope, thank you so much for sharing Jessie with us..thank you..
Jessie,I'm betting that celebrating this holiday season in heaven is really something to see!! I'm imagining that you are surrounded by your angels, and happiness, and unimaginable love..I'm saying prayers right now for you and your family and also for your friend Hope. But I know that you are watching over them all, feeling well and healthy again.
And Hope,I'm so glad that Jessie's passing was easy..may you be blessed also this holiday season for your compassion and sweetness...Bless you for reminding us all of what is truly important.
Peace and Strength and Many Prayers.
Tesh..
P.S.
Keep us all updated on the book you'd mentioned making. Is it going to be just one for Jessie's family?? Or are copies going to be sold to help out Jessie's family?? I'm not clear on that part of things..

Smiles ---- MW is such a magical place of love and hope!
The book is only being put together for memories and to share in the family. This family never had known a witch, until the end of Jessies life.
And all of the thoughts you have sent and the prayers and the candles and sharing, AND the sharing with your children and of YOUR own children, has made a huge impact on this family.
They know that we are NOT what people often "think and say" we are and believe there is a little magic everywhere and that we really are not that different --- smiles
The family has felt the prayers and love and light that has been sent and all seem to be doing well --- we all know it comes in circles --soft smile
And for me --- I have smiled and laughed often and cried some too. But can you imagine the love in my heart having had the opportunity to hold her close, to share her around the world, to be there as she passed, to hold her mom and cry with her and to hug the siblings???
I am blessed!

My daughter wanted me to post another pic of her, her favorite one. This is from early November of this year by a lake near our home. I also included a picture of Mercedes at Yule and our Yule tree and one of the lake that she likes. She sends her love to Jessie's family, and she has her own little candle lit. :hugz:

I shed many a tear reading this post, both tears of sadness and of happiness. I never cease to be amazed by the amount of love and selflessness to be found here at MW. I know Jesse will have a wonderful holiday, in the presence of her heavenly father. Candle lit :)

The first Christmas after my father passed I found this poem. He was a Christian and this reminded me of him and gave me comfort. I hope it will do the same for you.
My first Christmas in Heaven
I see the countless Christmas trees
around the world below
With tiny lights like Heaven's stairs,
reflecting on the snow.
The sight is so spectacular,
please wipe away the tear
For I am spending Christmas with
Jesus Christ this year.
I hear the many Christmas songs
that people hold so dear
But the sounds of music can't compare
with the Christmas choir up here.
I have no words to tell you,
the joy their voices bring,
For it is beyond description,
to hear the angels sing.
I know how much you miss me,
I see the pain inside your heart.
But I am not so far away,
We really aren't apart.
So be happy for me, dear ones,
You know I hold you dear.
And be glad I'm spending Christmas
with Jesus Christ this year.
I sent you each a special gift,
from my heavenly home above,
I sent you each a memory
of my undying love.
After all love is a gift more precious
than pure gold. It was always most important
in the stories Jesus told.
Please love and keep each other,
as my Father said to do.
For I can't count the blessing or love
he has for each of you.
So have a Merry Christmas and
wipe away that tear.
Remember, I am spending Christmas with
Jesus Christ this year.
