...I know, but I thought I'd ask all the same.
I know this comes at an inconvenient time, when so much energy is flying around to where it needs to go that it looks like LaGuardia on a holiday weekend. However, if nothing else, I at least ask that, if you ever have a little something extra you wouldn't mind putting towards this (like...oh...a positive thought? I'm not terribly picky, really. :D), I'd greatly appreciate it...and I'm not the only one.
I'll itemize, with things of greater importance first:
1. The land here is dead. Not dead as in desert-dead, where nothing grows. No, the land here is stagnant-dead. Nothing changes, and anything that would or could bring change is quickly "adapted" to the environment and is drained. There is no natural water source here--it's all man-made lakes. While on the subject of water (I do hope you'll forgive me--having as close a kinship to the element as I do, I tend to evaluate a place by its water availability and treatment), their drainage system is absolutely horrendous, so what lakes they do have are both fake and more than likely polluted. And the people...well, for a Big Ten College town, this place is awfully small and quiet. Too quiet. Part of this quiet is keeping local Pagans quiet, too...they won't talk to anyone, for fear of being seen as "different". There's something else contributing to this, which I'll get to in a minute.
I have spoken with friends about this place...and I would like to try to bring some life into the land, to make things cease to be stagnant. Not necessarily to ruffle feathers...just quietly help to feed the land that feeds the people...and so on. Any energy in this department is more greatly appreciated than you know.
2. A few members among my Pagan group (well, the ones I see more than once every four months, anyway) would like to start a coven. One with more of an educational bent, as there are no Wiccan groups in the city (that any of us know of, anyway.) Problem with this is that, due to any number of possible reasons (I still think the stagnation has something to do with this, but I could be overreacting), something has always caused a schism in the community, and there have been at least two witch wars to date...each one fragmenting the local Pagan community even more and driving more and more Pagans into the broom closets to prevent having to decide who to "side" with.
Right now, I would appreciate any ideas as to how we could build the group, but also try to find and neutralize the sources of the continuous schism. I'd also like ideas (and/or energies) helping to lighten the environment for any who may feel the need to keep in hiding to avoid "taking sides". Biggest of all...any ideas as to how I (or any of our group) could handle the conflict if and when it should arise.*
3. The good news is that we may have identified a possible source of the schism. I will not name names, but he runs a "competitive" (it's all the same road with a different Interstate name, anyway, but don't ask the sign painter. :p) 'Pagan' group in the area that, even based on the description, does *not* support networking among Pagans at all, but is a very eclectic (and by eclectic, I mean ALL OVER PAGANISM, with ceremonial and other forms thrown in for good measure. Again, no names given. My gut tells me he is a possible source, but I can only hope I'm not being too quick to judge (after all, I've only known the man a few months--hardly enough to go on.). I would appreciate, again, a quick locating and removal of any threat to the Pagan community, be it minor or otherwise...
Okay, I'm going to bed now...just got off the train.
