For those of you who are Wiccan, do you consider Ostara to be mostly a Sabbat representing the return of spring or the one in which the Goddess becomes pregnant with the new God? I've heard of it from both perspectives, and also that Ostara makes more sense for the Goddess to become pregnant because it is exactly nine months from then to Yule when the God is born. It could also be used symbolically as the beginning of all new life concept. As for Beltane, I've also heard of it used as a fertility festival, in which the Goddess conceives and/or mates with the God. What do you think? Theoretically, I figure, if She gets pregnant at Ostara, that would leave about three months or so for the God to be born and become sexually mature, whereas using Beltane would give a little more time for this. Just a thought.

Well, the deities don't necessarily have to work within the constraints of human timeframes. ;) I've always understood Beltane to symbolize the mating of the god and goddess.

Here's a good thread...

To me (and I tend to be more the this feels right type than the research and this is what traditionally is type) Ostara is the first stirrings of the Earth, the waking up. Beltane is the mating. For me it is a dance that starts at Ostara and climaxes at Beltane.
