View Full Version : One amazing night...

Wyrdsister came up yesterday and we had decided to do some circle work. We almost had to do our circle in my back room (do you think the Goddess minded that I vacuumed my sacred space instead of swept? It was a carpet...lol) but thankfully it rained hardly at all and we were able to have our circle in my backyard...it was such an awesome night. I can't tell you.... Because of last night I am now convinced that the Goddess never intended me to be a solitary witch...I belong with a group or coven. Wyrd and I went into this circle just sorta winging it...but as soon as we started, it all came so naturally we were shocked (and infinitely delighted...well, I can't speak for her, I certainly was!). We want to start a study group, and her Dianic traditions will mesh quite nicely with my Avalonian tendencies, I think :D Okay, I'll stop babbling now, but if anyone has any advice on what to do when starting a coven and/or study group, let me know okay? I'm just as green in that department as I am with everything else these days and can use all the feedback I can get!!

Blessed be and thanks in advance (and thanks for letting me prattle on like a soup sandwich  )

Yep, you guessed it....there's even a book for that!

"Wicca Covens: How to Start and Organize Your Own" by Judy Harrow

It's full of material I'm sure you'll find useful!!

:D

I'm glad you had such a wonderful experience!

Wonderful! Thank you Dagda!! Hey Wyrd, did you see anything like that at Pagan Playground when we were there?

Rae!! I didn't even see this thread until now!! LOL! You were probably wondering why I was so quiet on this! :) :)

I too had an amazing night, and I definitely think we must do it again sometime!

You know that I definitely want to go forward with the study group / practicing group idea. The only thing I saw at the Pagan Playground (a local pagan shop "disguised as a comic and gaming shop" - I think that's how they discribe themselves!) was Covencraft by Amber K which comes highly recommended. But don't head over there any buy it though, because I'm trying to get it for cheaper online! (the evil of the online auction rears its ugly head once again! 8O )

Anyone have any other suggestions? What sorts of resources have you used in a group setting? We're not looking for wiccan-specific stuff necessarily. I thing Raevyn and I are just looking for everything now! :)

Thanks, all! And see you on Saturday, Rae!!

CovenCraft by Amber K is great, I've been reading it and it's very good. Covers all kinds of aspects of covens and circles that I didn't even think of as well as stuff like group dynamics and organization... :)

Well, I plan on buying CovenCraft anyway eventually...just for my own personal library :) Hey woman...what're you bringing on Saturday (other than an appetite ;))? All I know is that there's going to be liquored fruit, buns, whatever meat everyone's planning on BBQ'ing, and there's going to be a plethora of salads and such. Just pray to the Goddess that we'll have NICE weather for Saturday!!!! If it rains, I'll just DIE :(

Hey!! No dying allowed on your birthday! ;) (everyone sing to Raevyn now!) Last time I checked the Environment Canada Weather Forcast (http://weatheroffice.ec.gc.ca/) site, it said 30% POP, so that's pretty good! :)

I'll probably be bringing some chicken to BBQ and some stuff to drink (probably sans alchool unless you want me to bring you some wine! :)).

But we digress! :)
