Welcome to Mystic Wicks. First off, not to be picky, but please use the full words instead of abreviations, its alot less confusing for everyone else and it makes your arguments and thoughts sound intelegent and direct.
On your question, there are countless gods and countless goddesses. What they do varies between them. You could spend your entire life writing down the names of gods and goddesses and still not have a full list by the time you died. We can provide you with lists of gods from different traditions, but youll have to be a little more specific. If its help you need on choosing a patron god/goddess, Im affraid none of us are really qualified for that. Thats something that resides in your own heart and soul.

It really depends on the pantheon. If you are refering to Wicca. They honour the Goddess and God. Both have many different names.

Welcome to the site! As already stated, you might want to look at a particular pantheon. For example, some people follow a specific pantheon that they are interested or from which their heritage may be. So some people use the Greek pantheon, while some use the Norse pantheon, or others use the Celtic pantheon. There are countless other pantheons from all over the world besides those ones. Maybe read other threads in this forum about all the pantheons, individual god/desses, and how to find the right deity for you. Lots of blessings for you on your journey.

The Gods and Goddesses are, some believe, real personal beings that rule the world, or, others believe, archetypes, symbols and metaphors for connecting with the Divine (the underlying Divinity behind all things, or All-God).
Each of the Gods rules or symbolises a different aspect of Nature. For example the Egyptian God Ra stands for the Sun, and the Norse God Thor is the God of Thunder.
The beauty of paganism is that you choose which Gods and Goddesses you worship, instead of being shoved a one-size-fits-all God as in the Abrahamic religions.

Hello and Welcome!
I have encountered some Pagans who see the Gods somewhat like focal-points for meditation and communion with their own spirits.
I don't know if that helps.
