Can we include things for those of us with the opposite problem? I've been pregnant 7 times. 3 of which were on the pill. I am kind of hoping since they are two sides of the same coin that there may be some advice for people like me too. It would also help those looking to conceive to know what to avoid in the way of herbs and diet. :) please......

Yikes. I hope you at least tried changing Pill brands... one of my best friends got pregnant twice on the Pill because she didn't switch brands. Now she's getting norplant.

They did change the pills they just don't work that way on me. In regaurds to norplant if you are overweight they loose effectiveness. I met someone who was pregnant with twins and she had it in her arm still! I met her before the doctor had the chance to remove them. It's one of those little things they don't always tell you.

Thank you so much for creating this room, Mol!!!!!!
This room can cover all topics of Fertility problems, and concerns. Including those who are having trouble PREVENTING pregnancy.
Getting pregnant while ON the pill? Well...one question would come to my mind, first...did you follow the directions fully? How many types have you tried? Did your doctor take bloodtests to find out what your hormone levels are? That is what first concerns me. There must be some form of birthcontrol which will work more effectively with your system, than others.
As for Norplant, and Depro Provera....I'm amazed that someone could have become pregnant on either one of those. Personally, I used Depro once, for the three months, and it had so many side effects, i would NEVER reccomend it to anyone.
There are some herbal precautions you can take, but I do not feel comfortable telling anyone about them. However, there is a good link I would refer you to...

Besides that, the only thing I can reccomend, is that you closely follow your ovulation schedule, and avoid intercourse during those times. I know..it bites...but...I don't know what else to tell you.

Maybe what we're talking about here needs to be it's own thread? I have a few things to say, but I don't want to clog the welcome filter.

Getting pregnant on the pill is not that unheard of. It's 99% effective if taken properly; which means even if it is taken faithfully one in 100 women on it get pregnant (consider how many thousands of women are using the Pill and you'll see how that number can actually get pretty high). There are those who take it by the clock and still get pregnant. In my friend's case they should've prescribed her a stronger pill - during the first pregnancy her hormones raged so much and when she started taking estrogen again her body had already produced so much extra testosterone they basically cancelled eachother out (according to the doctor).
Unfortunately no method is perfectly effective (not even abstaining from sex in some cases!).
As far as her norplant, it's effective for a number of years but she wants to have her last child before it's done so she's going to have it removed - they're going to have to cut her arm open and search around for the norplant to remove it (it can travel through your arm). That's what scares me...
