I am personally very irritated about this whole thing.
I am just going to ask for comments and opinions on this subject right now, because I cannot describe the situation without using very foul language. (I am mad.) I'll post again on this when I cool down a bit.

I expected Bush to get around to bombing Iraq sometime, but to be honest, I didn't expect it to be this soon. Perhaps I should have when he so quickly started removing funding from international health groups that provided people with family planning information. If he acted that quickly on that issue, he was bound to act that quickly on other issues such as Iraq.

Luckily, I'm Canadian. My Prime Minister isn't bomb-happy. Mind you, he's also a nepotistic half-wit, so it's not all wine and roses. ;)

Yours in solidarity,

I'm just wondering? WHY are they bombing Iraq this time? It may not be most educating thing to do, but given the trying time I'm going through at the moment with some other things, I haven't bothered to watch the news and find out what else I should be getting worked up about.

My guess as to "Why?"

Little ol' George "Dub-ya" is trying to look tough, not just for Daddy Bush but for the entire country. I think he's trying to prove to the right-wingers that he's tough and he's going to carry through on the promises he (i.e. his advisors and puppeteers) has made. He doesn't want to appear like the push-over he is.

And for that, Iraqis died.

This is self-centeredness in the extreme.

PS Am I sounding to bitter? *blush*

Merry Meet all,

I just received the following from a friend via email. Not sure who wrote it, but it's very good! (a little off tempo, but that's just me being picky ;) )

______

Bush's inaugural theme song:

Don't know much about history.
Don't know much foreign policy.
I don't know the names of men I grill,
Or implications of the seats I fill.
But I do know who has paid my way.
For corporate interests and the NRA
What a wonderful world this will be.

Don't know much about ecology.
Cutting trees has always worked for me.
And I don't know about the women's vote,
And I can't think of any bill I wrote.
But there's one thing that I know for sure,
If the rich stay rich and the poor stay poor
What a wonderful world this will be.

I never claimed to be an A student, but I don't have to be.
If you have deep pockets and sell nuclear rockets
You're a friend of my family.

Don't know much about air pollution.
Don't know much about the Constitution.
Don't care much for solar energy.
There's nothing in it for my friends and me.
And if we can't find any on our soil
We can go to war and get more oil, and
What a wonderful world this will be.

Don't know much about the driving rules.
Don't know much about the public schools.
Don't know why the inner cities fail
Why can't folks get dad to pay for Yale?
And if the issues causing you to lose
Are never covered in the evening news,
What a wonderful world this will be.

I never claimed to be an A student, but I don't have to be.
If you have a brother who's the Florida Governor, the
result's no mystery.

Don't know much about history.
Don't know much foreign policy.
Don't know 'bout paying off a debt.
I never had to pay one off yet.
But I do know who has paid my way.
For special interests in the USA
What a wonderful world this will be.

This is the ninth time we have bombed Iraq this year. The only difference this time is that we went over the 33rd parallel, outside of the no-fly zone.

It is a bit of a shame really, we (britain - dont know about america) were all set to start negotiating the relaxing of military sanctions, but then we bombed them instead. I think it has to do with the capabilities that saddam has obtained that are now deliberately targetting the planes in the no-fly zones - and to all accounts hitting them.

I think basically our guys are getting fed up of being shot at, and decided to fight back a little. From what I can gather, the only way to go from here is to either relax sanctions so that saddam stops targetting our planes, or go to war again.

I've been saying for years that it's about time the sanctions were eased off. I don't see the good that is done in starving billions of people, and the people are the ones who are starving, not Saddam.

I have to say, I enjoyed Bush's Innaugural Theme Song. Very cute.
I'm not thrilled that the man is in office, but I have to live with it for at least the next four years (Goddess forbid it be 8!). And I'm sad to say I wasn't shocked when I heard about the bombing. Somehow I just knew he'd be bombing someone soon.
I heard, at the time, a lot of talk about Saddam "testing" the new American President. But who knows who we should believe? Either way, it's pretty darn scary!

Has every one forgotten the Marsh Arabs & Curds who Sad Man Insane would be bombing and gassing the crap out of right now if we had not instituted a no fly zone we bomb him because he locks on to our aircraft with hostile intent, now Bush may be wanting to prove himself I don't know but I do no if we take no action we will be watching the TV news about downed pilots because if he thinks he can get away with it make no mistake this man will shoot our aircraft down and gas and bomb anyone he doesn't like.We know from this regimes treatment of aircrew and Special forces captured during the war that any UK or USA personnel taken would be tortured if not killed on the spot so as far as I am concernd if he locks on to our aircraft then he gets what he asks for.I know many of you will think this is not a very pagan attitude but as we did not finish the job properly the first time we are now suffering the consequences which has left us with a less than perfect policy I know sanctions don't work the only people they hurt are the poor and week so fine loose the sanctions but I truly believe if we do not act and let this man have free rein in the Gulf we will be back picking up the pieces and it will be a hole hell of a lot messier. Don't lets forget Sad Man Insane started all this by his invasion and massacring the Curds and Marsh Arabs .As far as the aircrew at the sharp end go they have my total support and respect
