My hands are almost too frozen to type. I'm not outdoors. I'm indoors in a computer cafe in a strip mall in the tropics. They've turned up the AC that high! And I know some of you are in snow and would love to feel the air in the tropics right now. That makes me so mad. This mall's owner also looked me in the face and said they didn't dump mop water with strong smelling cleaners out on the parking lot near the handicapped stall everynight, although I see them do this. So you can imagine her reaction to this complaint.

I'm feeling like I should go out and get something warm to warm me up. I would love to live in more harmony with the earth, her cycles and moods. Sure, sometimes you need shelter, or protection from the elements, or you may need AC but we could do a lot better than we do. There is like a phobia of the earth.

(((Be warm)))
I know what you mean.

My electric bill can be like $60-70 cheaper than most people I know, cause i open the windows and turn on the fans.
Unplug unused items.
You'd be suprised how much you'd save on a electric bill by unplugging the can opener, and all those small appliances when their not in use...

Mop water is so nasty, but if it has any strong smelling odors in it, its gotta be Bleach or something like that, nothing that (i believe) is really Illegal to dump outside. I could be wrong, as far as the ac goes, its a computer lab that has to keep the enviroment cool in order not to promote over heating in there, BLEH! (thinking about college comp class room with no ac) Anyway, i hate to say this, but they are providing u with a Cafe that allows u to use their computers, i myself work in a place that provides a service such as u say and can not stand people that just wont stop complaining, U are cold, but i bet anything there is someone else that is hott.

i dont really mean to be mean by this, just dont want you to take for granted what u have i guess.

A little snippy Ozzy. The mall keeps the place excessively cold, not the computer cafe owner. And a place that is supposed to be pleasant to consumers should not reek of nasty cleaning products right at the entrance. Actually it is against federal law to use disinfectants, which these are, in a manner contrary to the directions. I was thinking also of disabled customers with respiratory problems getting sick from it. Sounds like you don't like your job very much. I've had meaner postings but maybe you would remove that, and I'll remove this.

Actually, many places do have very strict laws about what sort of things can be dumped anywhere it will go into a storm drain..since that water runs off into the water basin without being treated, so water with cleaners and bleach are probably a no-no. As to the temperatures...I agree that many malls do seem to keep things a bit too chilly for my own tastes, but that's just me.

Thanks for pointing that out Zak. I want to make clear that this mall is abnormally cold, so much that your hands actually freeze. It's just badly managed.

Cerulean,
being a Houstonian, I totally understand your complaint about the malls. Everything indoor here is air conditioned down to about 66*F, even when it's 99*F outside. I hate it--I have to take a sweater with me if I go anywhere. And the movies--man, all I can say is bring the blankie!

The cleaning products--it is illegal to discharge chemicals into the storm sewers (or where they can enter the storm sewers). Perhaps you could call the City Health Department and anonymously file a complaint? They will come investigate it, or they should. I don't know if you have any branches of the EPA locally, I would try them too.

I think you have valid arguments...... :)
