Hi everyone. What does everyone on here believe about Crop Circles?

1. Do you believe that UFOs or Aliens created them?
2. Do you believe that they are a hoax created by humans.
3. Do you believe they are created by some kind of strange natural phenomena?
4. Do you believe that they are created by some for of supernatural phenomena?
5. Or do you not hold a position on this and just simply don't know?

Please submit your vote on my poll and tell me why you believe what you believe. I feel like this could be a very interesting topic. I truthfully don't know what I believe about crop circles.

I think that it's probably six of one and a half dozen of the other. Some circles are created by either aliens or some sort of supernatural force, and probably a lot of them are created as hoaxes by humans.

I believe that there are 'real crop circles' and then there's 'Billy Bob & Jimmy Earl's Adventures'!

Coming to your local theater in May!
'Billy Bob & Jimmy Earl's Adventures'!

I believe most of them are just a hoax, but I have seen some pretty freaky stuff about them.

They are a hoax.

I see absolutely no reason to belive anything else when the original hoaxers have confessed, and further hoaxes are being admitted to all the time.

The universe is awesome enough - it doesn't need humans to try to make it more so. That just cheapens the experience.

Thanks, Calzaer for the useful link, and Aquila for the great sig line!

We had some appear in crops here, but they turned out to be a hoax, just like the original ones that caused such a stir.

I beleive that some are created by human hoaxers, but others are created by some natural force. I dunno. They do fascinate me though.

I think they're a hoax, but a part of me would like to think it could be more. :) However, until then I can just marvel at the ingenuity and beauty humans can create again... I just wish it wasn't destructive in the fields...

Crop Circles....

Well I on the otherhand...have a rather odd way of thinking in regard to them....

Have you heard of this rare dog breed...called a Great White, its part of the australian sheepdog family...well the rarity of this breed is the dog is solid white, with some serious birth defects mainly being deaf and half blind.

Having one of these dogs in the family, has given me a new perspective on crop circles, since she has problems finding the door to return inside (inside dog for her and everyone elses protection), she moves around in circles, which is pretty sad but makes some interesting formation in the grass if it hasn't been cut recently or in the leaves during the fall....

So just a bit of oddity ...for others to reflect on...so I guess that would fall under a nature occurence....so ...wouldn't it be weird if there were a herd of these dogs wandering around doing circles?

Just makes you think doesn't it?

I do not know how they were created, but I believe as with all so-called 'alien' occurances, they are nothing more than a hoax.

My mother claims to have seen aliens before as a child, and while I believe she did see something, I do not believe it was aliens, to clarify my point.

In fact, anyone to date who brings up 'alien' nonsense to me I do not speak to. The whole obsession is just so silly.

Well, it's my opinion that a few crop circles were created by otherworldly beings, but after the whole thing became a craze they just ditched it and now only fame-seeking farmers make them..

I am going with part humans and part natural force. I am sure that some are hoaxs, but there are very real magnetic fields that surround the planet and interact in ways not everyone can understand. These are sometimes called ley lines, also there are some area where "energy" pools and can be harnessed. For the most part I beleive its according to these magnetic lines and areas tht the ancients built their most sacred and interesting temples and buildings.

So basically I go for nature for a small portion and humans to copy cat the other 80% we see.

I voted the last option.

I used to be convinced it was aliens...

But these days it's hard to know the truth about anything. I've gotten so paranoid/careful about believing anything that it's actually starting to ruin what little sanity I have left.

I mean come on... these people over here SWEAR they made the circles themselves... this other group over here SWEAR they saw a UFO do it, these other people here SWEAR there's no such thing as crop circles, and then these people HERE make a documentary on how they made the circles and everything checks out with them.

Who knows, maybe it really is a little bit of everything.

I like how you made it multiple choice though. Thank you for being cool like that :)

I believe that they were created by the two men in England, Doug Bower and Dave Chorley, who have confessed to creating them, provided documention to prove they created them, and provided instructions which have since been used by others to create them.

My in-laws had a crop circle on their farm in the early '80s. I don't know what created it, but I know it wasn't man-made or a hoax.

I'm thinking small percentage may be natural forces (magnetic shifting or something), and a large amount are hoaxes- done by humans to freak people out.
I've heard that some circles have some pretty weird phenomena that happen in/around/above them, and that can't be faked (how would a human-squashed circle on the ground make a plane shut off as it flew over?).
But the alien theory (and aliens in general) is right out for me. I'm with Raven on that- maybe people see something, but it ain't aliens.

Id probably pass off these things as hoaxes, but I did a little research a few years ago and I found some interesting things. When a wheat stalk is bent over, it tends to break or fray at the point where its bent. Some of the crop circles, NONE of the wheat stalks were bent or broken. The hoaxers often used a piece of wood fixed to a stake and simply went around in a circle, pushing down the wheat stalks. This resulted in an obvious hoax because the wheat was literally smashed down. Plus some of the ones Ive seen are just too complicated for some country hick to have made them with a wooden board and a few hours. I cant honestly say where they come from, I wouldnt rule out aliens all-together.

You don't know what created it, but you do know man did not?

That must be the reason I see so many UFO's. I just know I don't recognise what kind of man-made craft they are.

hmm. i didn't vote. cause i think most of them are hoaxes, but i think the hoaxters got their ideas from a strange natural occurence. meaning, some are real, but most aren't.

I don't know if it's true or not but I was told that Native American Indians ( I think it was Hopi Tribe) Said that strange symbols would appear in the fields growing crops and I think they said it would be at the beginning of a New Age. So it doesn't matter to me who or what has made them the wonderous thing is that they have appeared as prophesized. So I voted natural 'cos that seems right to me.

I think that some of the crop circles are really created by aliens, but I think that some people do go and make them, I just dont know why. I have seen one just this past summer they showed up here in Canada the next small town beside mine. I went to it people where saying that their camera's & cell phones would not work at times. They said in the newspaper that some people got a weird feeling when going into the circle, let me tell you there was a strange feeling I went in and it was like an energy flow coming off it. It made me feel a little giddy. I was fasinated with it though. Another thing is that around the time it was found people had spotted weird lights in the sky. I belive in extra-terresstrials I just dont know wether to fear them or to welcome them.

Ehh..it's probably people but I don't know who would want to stand out in a field pushing corn stalks all night...hey whatever floats your boat right?

um, well, the reason I said it was not man-made, is that there are no people out here for miles around. We can hear a vehicle from 2 miles away, and the dogs can hear them farther still. But believe what you will, after all isn't that what this site is all about? ;)
Well, I'm off to lick my wounds

I think a lot of them are hoaxes but some of them are real. Probably about a 60% hoax to a 40% real ratio. My sister is good friends with one of the main researchers of crop circles. For the ones that are 'real' the plants have been altered... it's not something two guys with a board could of done. Its pretty easy once they start doing tests what circles are real and what are not... check out the following link for specifics about the plants and soil.

http://www.timestar.org/unique.htm

I think the ones that are real are a natural... no aliens involved... the plasma eruption or the magnetic field theories make the most sense at this time in explaining them.
