View Full Version : bindis and self-adhesive glue?

This is going to seem like an odd question but I've had a couple of "forehead decorations" aka bindis that were given to me, and I really love them, but their "sticky" stuff has rubbed off, so now they fall off my forehead too easily, and I nearly lost one because of it. They are just small decorations, sort of the size of the dot a Hindu might wear on their forehead.
Does anyone have any idea what you can use to apply to the "bindis" so they'll stick to my forehead again? There MUST be something out there, you wouldn't just go out and buy new ones every couple of weeks!!! LOL I'm thinking there must be some sort of non-toxic semi-glue or something???
Thoughts anyone?

Look up theatrical supplies in your phone book. There are lots of adhesives there for you to chose from. When I'm in school I'm a theater major so I know that one.:D

At least now you know where to start. Costume shops should have that too.

spirit gum (spirit glue) is what theaters use. you could also try rubber cement.

Ya know, your local beauty supply store should have something, as well.
Your local 7-11 would have super-glue...
OW!
OK, I'll go away, now...

**shakes head @ Rick** Now there's a thought! I think hubby came up with that idea (super glue) hehehe
I have heard of spirit gum EP... thanks for reminding me, I will have a look around for it.
Thanks for all the suggestions everyone!!!

Just plain old stick glue...the kind you use in school. And it's non-toxic & washes off with soap & water & you can find it anywhere.
(someone who used it to stick halloween decorations all over her son's face last year! :D )

I use false eyelashes from time to time (I know, I know...it's glam), anyhow...if you can go to a beauty supply store, there is such thing as false eyelash glue. That sticks well, and removes easily. Also, regular stick glue works.
By the way, I love the concept of bindis. Do you know about their history and meaning?

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll look into that too :)
I actually didn't know they were called bindis until recently, and I know very little about them, my mother had sent a couple to me that are jeweled and very nice. I hate to not wear them for fear of losing them.
If you know any history about them I'd be curious to hear it!

I am no expert. But I read that it is to symbolize the third eye...and represent awareness beyond the 5 senses. Those who wear it, do as a way to see into the world without using their eyes.
Pretty huh?
More research should be done though...I only know that much. lol
