I'm behind unless a 20 minute massage for my husband counts. Now if only I could get one from him! Hmmmm.........

Just to let you all know I did take my walk again this evening!! Tomorrow may be tricky though as I have to go to work at 6:30 and it is way too hot before then. Maybe I will walk the halls for 10 minutes!!! I will figure it out I am sure. Good Night all!!!

I slept the entire day, so technically I missed a day, lol. But I'm planning on walking as soon as I'm awake enough to do it without bumping into things. :)

I went for a short bike ride with my son yesterday & today. We went early before it got too hot. Even the tiniest hills are killing me!

Only smoked 6 cigarrettes in the last 3 days AND went for a long walk at lunch time - 40 minutes of walking and no dawdling to go into the shops!

You know the worst bit?

By the time I got back, I was gasping for a ciggie!!!!

I didn't have one though!!!!

I'm sorry but HEAT and BUGS do not a happy walker make. hehe

I bought the "Walk Away the Pounds" videos. I can now walk 1mile, 2miles or 3miles in the comfort (and a/c) of my own living room!!! And it uses weights and tones upper body too! *grin*

Hi all!
Good to see everybody is getting a bit of exercise.I take a walk or ride my bike around the neighborhood every day for at least 30 minutes.I've done this for the last 2 years and love it.It's a great way to exercise.Plus,as a Witch,I see the changes in nature every day.I talk to the Goddess and God as I go.Yeah, sometimes it's too hot, today 102,but my body gets used to it.On a really hot day I carry a water bottle filled with ice.On a cold winters day I dress in layers.
As you walk,be aware of nature.I have open spaces in the neighborhood,a schoolyard, some creeks, and a wide open area that's too prone to floods to build on,so old trees grow there and hawks occasionally buzz my head. The whole nature thing really helped me attune to nature as a Witch.I also find stones and various kinds of plants and wildflowers. At Yule I even found me some Mistletoe. The schoolyard is great, with old oak trees and goldenrod at this time of year.Plus there are swings there,I'm a 40 year old guy who can't pass by a swing without swingin in it,I'm sure I look comical.
My only problem is I have lots of friends here. They're always driving by me and stopping, asking if I need a ride. They look at me really odd when I tell them I like to walk. The local store is only a few blocks away, and sometimes I walk there and pick up a couple of things.
It helped me to lose weight too.I was over 210 lb when I started,I'm 170 now.Not totally buff, but not overweight any more.
So walk folks, and look around as you do!The Goddess always has a surprise or two!
Well,off to do my walk!
Peace and Love

Well, the humidity came back, so I didn't get to start walking. However, my office is on the 2nd floor of my townhouse, so I'm up and down the stairs constantly ~ does that count? Too, I am starting a new round of Goddess belly dancing (tribal) classes this afternoon. WHOO HOO!

Stairs absolutely count. :D I bought some bellydancing tapes-- with Neena and Beena. 8O The first tape was all right. Except that they didn't explain all that much and I got frustrated quickly before I made myself take it slow and learn it.

But the other tapes were too hard, and the first tape got boring, so... I'm sticking with walking. I no longer have space in my room for tap dancing. :(

You funny Shy Hawk! I broke some toes about three weeks ago. Excited that I'm now feeling good enough to walk the doggies again. Just sat on my butt and ate out of boredom for the first while. My shorts are feeling tight...

Do you think walking really works? I walk 5 miles a night 3-4 times a week and I've been doing so for a month and a half without any change. I've started jogging and that seems to help more but I can't go the full distance yet.

Walking is better than nothing! Which is what I tend to do most of the time. I just need to find some motivation. That's the hard part. The motivation. Ugh....

Do you think walking really works?

Walking is less stressful on the body. your knees don't have to absorb the tons of pressure that is applied to them when running.

You could carry weights when walking or walk faster, which would increase the heart rate (which is what you want).

I jogged 20 minutes today so far. :) I'm proud. Although... two minutes of yoga was enough to put me out. 8O
