I've always made my own rituals as I only work either by myself or with a small group. We've had tons of fun with them, but I was just wondering what all of you do! For midsummer we harvested some herbs, did a full moon ritual, pranced through the woods, called the corners, and had a ritual of thanks. I've been searching online to see what everyone's up to. Taking bits from here and there to make my own style with what I feel works for me or the group. I was just wondering if any of you would share your experiences. Thanks! Blessings All!

At midsummer no one had anything planned beforehand so we stood in a circle and passed a golden candle around and that was about it. I don't see any group circle happening for Lammas unless I plan it myself - which I just might! It might be a good idea to each write something we'd like to get rid of on a paper then "sacrifice" it to the fire like the God would've been for the harvest years ago. We might do this after casting a circle and meditating on prosperity and abundance. Who knows? :)

Lughnassad is the Wedding Feast of Lugh and Rosemerta for us. Lugh=Lugh:D Nassad="to give in marriage":D We make the Corn Mother dollie who resides on the altar until Hellith's Day (Mabon) or Samhain, whichever we choose (then she's torn apart, but that's another story). Lughnassad celebrates the ascendency of the Moon. (in the Dark Half of the year, Lugh is the Moon) We create small poems in praise of Lusty Lugh's mighty prowess. :D

Lammas, or Lughnassad, occurs in late July and early August. It is marks the middle of Summer and the beginning of the harvest. It is the first of three harvest festivals and is usually associated with ripening grain. It heralds the coming of Autumn. The Goddess manifests as Demeter, Ceres, Corn Mother, and other agricultural Goddesses. The God manifests as Lugh, John Barleycorn, and vegetation Gods. Colors are Golden Yellow, Orange, Green, and Light Brown. It is a festival of plenty and prosperity.

I'll I have planned so far is to make cornbread. I'm never on the ball with these things. Whatever I do get around to though seems to be focused on food. Hmm?

Heh, SylverStar, I tend to revolve my celebrations around food too. Guess that is why i consider myself a kitchen witch most days. :D

I have a really yummy recipe for a Picnic Loaf. It is from Telesco's Kitchen Witch Cookbook. It is Italian bread (round) stuffed with fresh tomatoes, green peppers, cheeses, feresh herbs from my garden....yummy!
I'll make that in a "ritual" toinight and we'll it it tomorrow.

I went to the farmer's market yesterday morning, and last night my husband made fried rice with a lot of fresh veggies. I bought some blackberries and me and the kids are going to make "Berry, Honey & Hazelnut Crumble" using a recipe from The Wicca Cookbook.

Maybe we'll go to the local blueberry farm and do some harvesting...

Flar's friend just came over to mow the lawn and came in looking kinda puzzled to tell me that two stalks of corn are growing on the side of our deck :rotfl:

I always keep the harvest corn from the year before on the porch until Lammas and then bury it. The ones we have out there this year were pecked at by the birds and apparently a few kernels dropped under the porch and took root :D

I'm going to take this as a very good omen for a great harvest next year!

I didn't do anything this year, as I am new to rituals and such. Being new makes it hard to find the right time in which to initiate it.

I will do something for Samhain though, I just need to write it.
