My boyfriend and I are thinking of getting of getting (matching) ring tattoos. It's supposed to symbolize our commitment and love for each other. I'm designing it and I had a few questions about combining runes.

I was considering using the runes: Gebo and Ansuz. Gebo symbolizes partnership and contracts (in this case, commitment) and Ansuz symbolizes communication and higher conciousness.

If I combine these two, will the meanings shift or have a new meaning? (if so please tell me what these are.)
Are there other runes that I should/could combine to gain the same overall meaning and symbolism?

Edited to add: Also, If I use the rune, Ansuz, I was going to reverse it so that I can connect the two ansuz... will this change the meaning? If you don't get what I mean, I'm adding an example picture, just imagine that it will be wrapped around and the two ends will meet.

Hmm... I'd suggest flipping the two Ansuz's around, & let them 'meet' with an Ehwaz between them... Ehwaz symbolizes partnership (it represents two horses yolked together, pulling as a team)... the shape of Ehwaz suggests two people holding hands... Gebo, in this type of formula, better symbolizes union, I think...

edited to add: Is this how you meant? (see attached picture)

Umm... something like this... ignore the dots...

...or keep what you have above, & maybe place the Gebo opposite the Ehwaz... make sense? When you say 'ring tattoo', you mean as in a circle around your finger, wrist, arm, etc, correct? Let the four runes be like the cardinal points of the circle...

I know you were talking about tattoos, but I found this site and thought the link was interesting and pertinent.

that is an awesome website... (the whole idea of the tattoo was so that we'd never lose, tarnish, or break a ring) :)
thanks :)
