is it so hard for me to connect to a higher power during meditation. I read and I read about excersises that show you inner answers and spirits within yourself that can answer your questions, and all you need do is ask. I can never reach this state? Can you actually have a conversation with a higher power in your meditations and actually come in contact with an ethereal being? I am lost someone please help. I feel hopeless, like I am alone.

I have trouble meditating too. I'm guessing (and hoping) that the more you practice, the easier it will get.

Sorry I can't help you out more. :(

mmm, i feel the same as you guys too. Eventually I just took the cowards way out and stopped meditating. I feel really bad about it, and I'm trying to start again....:D

Some people seems to connect faster than others. You just have to keep trying...I'm not talking about days or weeks here either or even possibly months. Don't give up.

I have trobble when theres a lot on my minded. I cannot pull it off when I get home from work, I'm too stressed. Sometimes it helps to do something that will get you in the mood. I like to take a walk in the woods sometimes to meditate. Don't try so hard either just relax. You'll be able to do it in time.

I used to have the same trouble. I used the tools I found in a book to clear my mind and it opened up everything for me.

Stand in a warm shower with the water flowing comfortably down your body, vision that the water is pouring through you erasing all the tensions, worries, and uncomfortable thoughts away.

Once I mastered this type of relaxation, things came much easier, but remember if you set aside 20 minutes for meditation at the begining you will not have an easy time of it. In the back of your mind will be the thought that you are on a time schedule and the fear of being late will always be there. Try to learn at a time when you have nothing else planned.

Now that I have learned this technique I can meditate just about anywhere and this water running through me to rid all of the tension can be done without the shower!! But I have to admit it feels better with the actual water. Beware for some reason this does bring out emotions. The shower is the best place to cry and it does happen from time to time!!:)

Have you ever read Book 4 by A. Crowley? The first section is a GREAT introduction to meditation and yoga. Except, Crowley leaves all the gobbley-gook out. He just tells it like it is...

:p

You might try it.

There are three steps to achieve a quiet mind:
You must willingly except and responsibly experience yourself as sourse of all your mental creations.
Learn how to turn off the creation of new thinking at the source.
Have a effective techniique for discreating the echoes of old thinking.

While in the army [WAY back in '76] I was enrolled in a class in meditation for[belive it or not] Poet traumatic stress disorder and drug use.

To make a long story short, it got me a first class intro to TM for free. After 24 yrs I've picked up some tricks.

1. Never try to med. when very tired or excited. One will put you to sleep, the other takes a LOT of practice.

2. Never med. on a full stomach! Meditation changes your metabolism and affects digestion adversly. Wait at least 1 hr.

I can give more in depth help later or, email me for a personal response. [no time right now].

Peace,
Twig

Hehehe... Sunday, if I could do those things, I wouldn't need to meditate...

Mist, I use my scrying mirror to reach a relaxed state. If you don't have a scrying mirror, there'a a thread in Divination (you may have to search for it) about making one from things from your local Wal-mart for $5 - $10 bucks. A crystal ball should work, as well. It's like doin' the magic-dot pictures; look into the mirror or ball, & unfocus your eyes. As your eyes relax & unfocus, your mind begins to unfocus & relax, as well.

MM Mist

I find the Yoga practice of opening the Chakras works for me.
Try reading a good book on yoga techniques-it may help you.
