View Full Version : Greetings from another spiritual "seeker"

Hello there!

I'm new to this community, though I've been reading many of the posts for a while now. Please bear with me if I read a lot without saying anything, I'm not lurking to be creepy. ;) Also, be patient with me if I ask a lot of silly questions, especially of the kind you've all answered a million times before. I'll try not to do that too often, though.

My basic stats are: I'm female, 32 years old, from Chicago. My passions include books, film, music, art, and cooking. I also love to travel.

As far as spiritual paths go, I'm not really sure which one I'm on. I've been sort of an "independent operator" for around 15 or 16 years now, and pretty much just follow my heart as opposed to any particular tradition. Many aspects of many faiths resonate with me, but that doesn't make me part of any one faith. Hopefully what I learn from you all here will show me which direction is the right one for me.

I was raised Catholic, then my parents switched to a fundamentalist Christian congregation. Both left me with a spiritual void, hungry for something more. Since my late teens, I have sporadically attended a Unitarian assembly, and have done lots of research on Wicca, Hinduism, Buddhism, and others. All of them appeal to me on some levels, but not all. I don't want to be one of those people who rips faith off piece meal and rejects the bits I don't like. Hopefully those of you who follow these paths can help me learn more about them.

Sorry for rambling on so long. I have a tendency to excessive verbosity.

Anyway, I look forward to getting to know as many of you as I can! Thank you.

Spirituality is a completely individual path (after all, we die alone) so IMO you HAVE to believe what you feel is right in your heart and in your soul. Being a seeker means that you will always be discovering and uncovering new "truths" and your beliefs will continuously be revised. Not a bad path at all!

I hope you discover many exciting new ideas as you travel through the threads here at Mystic Wicks. Some will feel exactly right and others probably won't. But that's ok!

Glad you're here!

Merry Meet and :welcome:

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

Having only just registered, would it be impertinent of me to ask for folks to send me some positive energy in the appropriate thread, and also to post a "prayer" in the altar of the ancients? I've had a LOT going on and need all the strength and support I can get right now, as well as spiritual guidance.

I'm still busily reading all of the conversations, so I won't mistakenly ask something that's been answered in the past. I know how annoying that can get.

Thanks again for making me feel so welcome. :)

oh, go ahead and ask, and if I see something that is being talked about or i can remember being talked about, I will mention it to you.. or someone will... :)

we can point you in the right direction, you can ask anything you want here, this is your intro thread, or check out the new pagans forums,

as far as requests for energy go, there is a forum called energy requests, where you can ask for help and guidence...

and in altar of the ancients, that is where you can set up your own personal sacred place, where no one will mess with your things :)

That's not necessarily a bad thing. Your background is quite similar to mine. When I first found that I belonged on this path, I vehemently rejected Christianity but after a while I came back to some of the beliefs and practices from previous religions, including Catholicism. My practice is basically "take what you need and leave the rest." Spirituality is personal and individual and there's nothing wrong with creating your own path, IMHO.

Welcome, and I look forward to getting to know you too.

Namaste absynthia, and welcome aboard!

You'll have no problem finding Wiccans here and there are a few people who lean towards eastern faiths, including myself.

I live in the Chicago area as well - whereabouts are you?
