I've only done a couple of readings for a person who wasn't there. In one case, I knew the person very well and just concentrated on her face and "her" in general... The other, I built on that idea and asked the girl for a few pictures of herself that I could concentrate on... Both readings went well, made sense for me and made sense to them..

How does it work for you? Many here (and elsewhere), I have seen, ask for full name, and/or date of birth, location, location of birth... I'm just wondering how you can make a personal connection with the person through such dry facts, without *seeing* them?

Well, i ask for full name & dob so it is their personal information, an idenitity! So it identifies it with that particular person when i'm doing the reading. I've never tryed it with a photo, although i deffinatly would!
Some people even ask for bits of head hair or nail clippings, because it is "their" identity and no one elses...

When I did my reading, I asked for the persons name, date of birth, color candle to represent them as well as the tarot card they wanted to represent them.

Before I did the reading, I lit the candle and burned incense appropriate for their birth sign. I then concentrated on their name and then asked the cards to give an accurate reading.

I usually only ask for a date of birth... location is good, but not important. I pick a significator card by doing a quick numerology calculation according to their date of birth. But I don't always use the significator card as such, sometimes I just look for it to come up in the reading. Depends on the question, I suppose.

This probably sounds peculiar; as everyone else seems to focus on the individual, but I focus on the question itself rather than the individual. To aid the visualization process, sometimes I use incense, and always use a candle. This candle is for ME--not the querent... Also my candle color must something in a shade of purple.

I guess that's about it. Does anyone else focus on the question rather than the individual? Or am I the only freaky deaky tarot reader on the forum?

I don't ask for anything. Before I do the reading I call for the guides of the person that I am reading for to speak through me. I rely on the universe to use me as a tool to communicate with the querent. And if it's meant to be, it will happen. So far so good. My readings get pretty good feedback.

Desert..I also usually focus on the question. In the beginning of the reading, I usually just mentally go over the persons name, dob, and facts and then I focus on the question. Guess I'm freay deaky too

Woo Hoo! We're the freaky deaky tarot twins! :hehehehe:

It's good to know that I am not the only who uses this method!

I tend to focus on the person more...I love it when I get a pic but I've also done them with no information. I too ask for help from the querants spirit guides...but always specify that they be guides who are interested in helping the querant (hopefully telling any other nasty energies out there that they are not welcome!)

I also ask for the aide of my own guide, asking him to help me to see the true meaning behind the cards...my preferred method is with a picture but I have done it with just a name, or location.

I find its also helpful to look at a few of the querants post here at MW on the occasion that Im having a hard time centering.

Hmmm it seems that the means of connecting are just as varied as the readers themselves!

Til next time,

I can usually jsut work on a first name. Sometimes the date of birth just seems like a number you know?

well I dont try to do anything, I just gather data, look at chart, and then talk with the person,

and then more data flows from the spirit realm,

I know its sorta hermetic, but it works for me :)

Hi Xander67

hmm... I'm just a bit confused.

I do not wish to show disrespect towards your method, but what is this "chart" that you refer to? Do you have a Tarot chart of some kind?

Of course, I'm not using Tarot...so maybe the question doesn't apply to me.

~ Monk ~ If you wanna post in the Tarot forum--you gotta follow the rules... :) Just Kidding, bud!

So again, what IS this chart that you and Xander67 refer to? I MUST know! I demand it!

I don't use a chart, but I'm guessing Xander is referring to astrology? :hmmmmm:

Hope this helps....

I ask DOB when I do the Kaballah spread - only because the Self card is always the card of the astrological sign you were born under.

I usually don't ask for a question, but I take it if it is offered. I actually prefer to know as little as possible about the reasons behind the request.

What I do is open the person's profile and keep it open on my computer. I let the deck sit by the computer for a bit. People put much of themselves into their avs and sigs - a bit of them - personal energy.

Then I do my readings in my usual comfortable spot. The profile remains open until the reading is done.

So far, I have gotten good feedback.

I have seen readers and psychics get information for a friend or family member rather than the person who is being read. Maybe they need the information more. *shrug*
