Dont really understand them, everything I look up on them seem to have something or other to do with the devil and opening oneself to possesion. Any thoughts?

I've actually used a spirit board to try to reach the other side. I was trying for someone specific and I believe I had some success but before I did I had some very strange feeling come on that felt well ummm, not ok. So I stopped, got the salt and made a salt circle around me. After that it was fine.

I've worked in a salt circle a few times since then and never had any problems. But I'm working, NOT playing. And so my intent is serious.

I think the problem with Ouiji boards is that people "play" with them and so the get entities that have nothing better to do but play.

You get out of it what you put into it. So use it as you would any other magical tool and you should be fine.

There is a thread here somewhere that might have some good info for you. As soon as I find it I will post it here for you. :)

I would never use one. Ever. So much of magick and contact is based on belief and perception, and these things have way too much bad juju in them to counteract. I see it as an open invitation to bad spirits. In my own (humble) opinion, anything that is sold next to the monopoly sets is not really fit for divination purposes. You're kind of saying, "I'm looking for a quick fix here, I don't have the time to learn Tarot or scrying, so I'll just plunk down $20 for this toy and be on my way."

Maybe they do actually work, but I'd never let one in my house, let alone use it.

P.S. As with all things that have the potential to turn nasty, use some caution and common sense with the ol' quigi/ouija boards. :graduate:

I have had a Ouija board since I was in fifth grade. I was told that to keep evil spirits from causing you harm or anything while you use the Ouija board that you should place a pure silver coin either on the board or the indicator. That's just what I was told and have practiced. No harm has come of myself or my best friend who I use the board with.

I use the ouiji board. When I use it, I ALWAYS cast a protective circle around myself and the board. I ask the person I'm with to do the same.

I have had enough umm strange experiences to know that it works. It told me about the house I was gonna buy within a year and was within $2,000 of the price we paid (which was laughed at at the time..Yeh Sure).

I have also had evil or playful spirits tell me things that I knew were wrong. From that time on I have only asked my guide to speak for the spirits that have msg's. Watch what you believe. Even spirits with the best intentions can be wrong.

I agree that the board should NOT be sold as a toy. It's not a toy and has given quite a few young people nightmares after bad experiences. But explain that to the people making money off the sales..

Blessed Be and remember Protect yourself when doing ANY divination

I actually made my own spirit board. Not too sure how I feel about the Ouija boards sold in stores.

If you make your own, you know the energy and intent that is going into it. I'm very comfortable with the one I made but I still like to work in a salt circle.

Thanks for all of your replies its helped me a great deal, just a few questions since we are on the topic. I’m kind of new to this kind of thing as many of you can probably tell, *blushes*
-_-' ... But I want to make sure what I have gathered from your replies and the terminology you used as well as items you all have spoken of is correct. The salt circle wards off evil and nefarious spells and what not? And with casting a protection spell, is it best to make your "own" up or is there a "set" way to go about making one? Also, I have heard unless you are a rather powerful witch/warlock or what have you it is best not to use a quigi board because you are not strong enough to ward off evil that may or may not posse you.

Thanks again

So, my friend Geo worked at this pharmacy and in the basement, where we went to change the photo-paper(it was dark...), there was this HUGE mound of dirt. Well one day, for some reason, we had to turn the light on. Then we got to looking around down there and what do you suppose we found? This old Ouija board, made of wood and said Made in Salem, MASS. Now, I don't think Salem is the witchcraft capital of the world or anything, but it was a wierd discovery none the less, right? Because his boss and family had been running the pharmacy for years, and before that my great grandpa had a bar in the same place...so there was ample opportunity for someone to be poking around in the basement and make the discovery(Also creepy...the basement was once connected to the funeral home behind the pharmacy.)before us. This is becoming quite a long story, sorry. So we take the board and begin to use it, and all sorts of mayhem starts to occur, including 3 accidents where the board was IN the cars at the time the accidents occured.
Spooky, no?

I believe the main problem with ouija board usage is the fact that you are not calling upon your own personal power or the power of the universe (insert fave terminology here), but on non-specific individual entities....ones you don't know. It's not dissimilar to invoking a demon without any prior knowledge of how to do so. Remember, if you try to get in touch with dear departed Uncle Charlie, and Uncle Charlie pops up and says hi.......it may well *not* actually be Uncle Charlie. It could be anything....and it might not want to leave.

Even if you do get through to someone's dead spirit, who's to say it's going to be smarter in death than in life?

The thing that puts me off the most, though, is the sheer number of reports of very negative outcomes from the usage of ouija boards...

My advice (as usual) is this....if you must do it.....learn *everything* you can, first.

Always. Educate yourself. And be very, very, careful.

Hi-

OK, I’ve got a significantly different view of Ouija boards, so I thought I should put my 2 cents in. My best guess about Ouija boards is that they aren’t anything beyond wood and plastic. I don’t think that spirits (good nor evil) actually exist. All the evidence I’ve seen is anecdotal stories, and other second-hand information. As such, I would be more afraid of hype and self-generated fear than possession when using ouija boards.

Other people see Ouija boards differently, and that’s fine with me. If you feel you are contacting spirits, and want to contact spirits, then go for it. If you are concerned that an evil spirit may come, then don’t do it. If you don’t think there are spirits, but like to do it for fun, then have fun.

Regardless of your personal view, I wish you the best!
