The following message popped up this morning and I got a similar one last night while cuddling with my hubbie. That one was "Hey wanna virtual?"! Ack!!!!! I didn't reply!

I got another one!!!!! What fresh hell is this anyway??? I don't go in chat rooms unless one of us starts it and I don't give out my icq anyway. This is bizarr and it has only been since 4am this morning! This makes 3 does that mean it's over? Please......

I receive them all the time, too. Mostly from Middle Eastern men. I dunno how they find my #, but they do.

Look at the messages, Yvonne. Is there an authorization request at the bottom of them. Do yours have this? When I get messages like this, I immediately hit the "ignore" button on the im window.

This happened to my ex when we were still together. Change the online name (the one they would see) to something more masculine and that indicates you are not single. My ex changed it to reflect (my name & her name lastname) ex. Bob and Sharon Smith.

The bad guys went away.

Or just change your sex to "male". :) I used to get about 3 requests like this a day....drove me crazy.
People tend to do a search by city and sex, soo......

No, I never did change my sex to male..... what I did do is change my security preferences so that no one not on my list can message me. I get the occasional request for authorization, but I just hit "Ignore" like Mari.

I haven't received this kind of stuff on my computer yet, but
I have received numerous phone calls where the caller(s)
say nothing, pant for 4-5 seconds and then hang up....and
these calls are coming more frequently....I just hang up.
I don't say anything, just hang up...to discourage them.

Eeew, this is yucky. I hope these messages stop for you, Yvonne. :mad:

I've only had a few unsolicited ICQ messages. Usually they are trying to sell something. I just checked my personal settings and my gender was actually "female", so I changed it to "not specified" just in case. Mind you, if your ICQ nickname says "yvonne" or something like it, changing your gender setting may not do anything. :)

I think everyone with an ICQ number can probably be found on www.mirabillis.com . They are probably not looking for you specifically, Yvonne, but maybe they're doing a search on ICQ numbers or gender. ?? Just start using that Ignore list all the time and hopefully things will improve.

Hmmmm..i don't ICQ..so have never had this happen. It never happens in my AIM, either. But..what really irks me, is when you go to a pagan chatroom, and guys come in there with names like..."Mr.MachoStudmuffinxxx" or something like that, and the FIRST thing they do, is whisper any feminine sounding name, and ask for cybersex. When nobody answers with anything, but say "MM" to them on main screen..they ask..."what does MM mean?"...so they are OBVIOSLY just randomly trolling rooms. But what's WORSE, is that sometimes, I'll ask one of these people (on main screen) what brought them to that room. They'll say.."My buddy told me to come here"..and I'll ask "why". They'll actually have the NERVE to say..."Well..I heard you all have sex at your rituals and stuff". No..they're not curious as to what we REALLY do..they just think that because they've heard such a rediculous thing, that pagans are easy or something. That's what REALLY drives me nuts!

Mystique : When I was 12 someone started doing that to me, then they started talking if I answered but not if anyone else did. Then they started making lewd comments. I ignored them, hung up, stopped answering the phone, and even had my dad blow a train whistle full blast to answer the phone when the person called. Finally we had our phone # changed and unlisted.

As far as lewd messages on chat programs I just ignore their request or ignore them... sometimes I'll respond "I'm 3 feet tall, 700 lbs, with stringy green hair, red eyes, and no teeth. I'm also in the middle of having a sex change." or I'll send them nasty pics I've found at rotten.com or something similar. Depends on my mood :)

ARGH! Been there done that, and yes even in privacy mode they will come throught, People like this are not after 'you' they are looking for anyone. People don't have to be on your list to send you a mesg. and there are programs out that will even bypass it. What I do is when I get on is to add the offending person to my ignor list, works pretty well, but it will not stop ne mesgs form others....:p
