Ok, so I've got this really cool black leather journal with a picture of a quill writing in blue ink stamped into the front of it that I want to use for my own BoS. My only real question is this, since it doesn't have marked off sections is it ok if everything is mixed together? Like having prayers right before herb correspondences after sabbat/esbat rituals? Or does the BoS have to have seperate sections for correspondences, prayers, etc?

It sounds like it looks pretty cool. I still just have my spiral :collapse: anyways I really don't think it has to be sectioned off. I've seen alot of BOSs that you could buy online that weren't sectioned. I'm still new to this so I may be totally wrong... but from what i've learned it doesn't have to be any certain way, since it's supposed to be personal

to me...your bos is your personal book of things that you've put together, and arangeing it how you want is one of the fun parts about it. dividers and such is a good idea for orginization, because it is alot easier to find what you're looking for when you have it seperated & marked. if you have a sprial notbook though that could be harder to do...

My original BoS was mixed up. I've re-done it since and it's now a 3 ring binder. Why not consider making it for one thing only--like rituals or spells? And have something else for other things? I don't see what it would hurt to have it all mixed up! It's your BoS...do as you will!!!

Organization, or a lack thereof is a personal choice.
When you go sifting through your own Grimoire or Book of Shadows do you wish to be able to find things speedily and efficiently? It may not be a problem if you're intimately familiar with the book or have very little content contained within its pages.
Then again, perhaps you enjoy the search of sifting through pages. Some do.
It's all a matter of preference, nothing more.

You can number your pages and do a sectioned table of contents.

mine is mixed too. i still haven't decide to redo it yet, but maybe next time. it's practically all mixed up, spells and rituals in front and correspondance in the back pages. i guess it's like others have said-it's your personal choice.

I have different books for different things, because I am WAY too organized for my own good. I have one that's like a journal, a binder for print out's and other things I want to keep organized, one for tarot, one for astrology...Actually I'm going to attempt to put it all into one, because I'm thinking all this organization is hindering my creativity...

It's your book so organise it how suits you best. It depends if you want it to be more like a reference book or something more spontaneous. You could always have another book to write in rough and then copy it neatly into your nice book.
I personally have several books as I keep adding more and more stuff, that it's outgrown the book I started with. I still have my first grimoire (or nature book as I called it) from when I was little, it was a scrapbook and I had pressed leaves and flowers, seed pods from trees and stuff like that, bark rubbings, pictures of birds that came to my garden. It was a great way to start learning about nature and I loved keeping it. Do whatever makes you happy.
