YAY!! I'm ordering one this week and need help deciding which brand.
I've talked to a lot of Canon fans, but what about the Kodak easyshare ones or Fugifilm?

My Personal recommendation is the Sony Cybershot. That's what my dh and I have and it's wonderful. We only have the 1.3 Megapixel and I believe it's available in a 5 megapixel now. When we decide to get a new one, it'll f=definitely be another Cybershot. Definitely the best investment we ever made, especilly with our baby now, we've saved so much money just on film alone.

I have a kodak cx4300 that I got from walmart. I love my camera and cant imagine using any other. Except maybe that camera I see on tv that has 10x zoom. You can see most of the pictures I taken here: http://enchancea.buzznet.com/user/ and judge for yourself the quality of the pictures. I attached some pictures if you dont feel like going there. Being this is the only digital camera i have its the only one I can reccomend.

I agree with Saoirse Aiyana. I too have a Sony Cybershot but the 2 million pixels one and would thoroughly recommend it. Photos i've had printed in regular size at a lab have come out so well you'd never know they were digital and i've printed from my own printer in A4 size and been really impressed with the quality.
Also Sony memory sticks are really versatile if you buy the magicgate ones which can also be used in mp3 players and other sony products.

We got a Casio Exilim with 3.2 megapixels and a 3x optical zoom. We *LOVE* it.

Drats, my DH told me today that I had to wait till the end of the month instead of ordering one this week.
There are just too many choices! I know I want 4 megapixels and that I need 2x-3x optical zoom in addition to digital. I just can't decide on a brand :)
A friend told me about this site: www.refurbelectronics.com (http://www.refurbelectronics.com)
They seem to have good prices, and warranties.

I got the Canon Power Shot for Xmas from hubby. Yeah, spent way to much...;)
I love it b/c it is small- I can stick it into one of those tiny shoulder bags and still have room for my huge key ring and a lipstick. :p I haven't had a chance to print any pictures, my old printer is shot and the new one isn't hooked up yet. But I like that it takes nice pictures, has some good features and is very user friendly. Oh and the video- threee minutes with sound, it is pretty cool.

NIKON cameras are very very good....My boyfriend has about 3 of them and all of the models he has are excellent...check out Ebay too for some great deals on cameras...sometimes you can find a really nice camera a lot cheaper then some stores.

I also must put in my recommendation for the Sony Cybershot line of cameras. I had a 2.1 MPixel with no optical zoom (before it got stolen) and it worked wonderfully. The picture quality was very impressive - good enough to print a respectable 5x7. I replaced it with a 3.2 MPixel with 3X optical zoom, and specs aside, there are some other improvements on the design of the camera itself. If you keep an eye out for deals you can get it for about $150 less than the list price. I paid about $250 for mine. It comes with rechargable AA-size batteries, and the camera will also run on AA-size alkalines in a pinch. A charger for the batteries and a 16 MB memory stick are included with the camera, but if you plan on taking a lot of hi-res pictures, I would sugggest investing in at least a 128 MB stick. They run about $40 now, I think.
I use my camera for both just taking fun pictures in VGA reolution to email people, and also in high resolution to go along with articles that I write for my job at the newspaper. Sonys are great point and shoot digital cameras and are cusomizable enough in the settings to satisfy most photographers unless you want to plop down $500+ for a professional digital camera. While I've been impressed by the picture quality of other camera brands, I have yet to find one that offers the same portability and functionality at a good price.
The one drawback to the camera is that in low light especially it tends to produce grainy images on occasion. Also, something I've noticed with all digital cameras is that if you use it in a dimly lit place with a flash, you tend to get dust orbs in your picture. That is, the flash reflects off of dust particles and creates little orb-looking things in the picture. It happens on 35-mm cameras, too, but I've found that it's not as common.

I got a HP for my birthday...It's 3.1 megapixel which is definitely good enough for me...I won't be taking poster-sized photos so I didn't need one of the more expensive cameras.

We have an RCA and I like it ok, however doing it all over again, I wouldn't get and RCA. The company didn't make a driver for Win XP so for over a year I couldn't do pics with it. Finally Walmart (Here in the backwoods of TEXAS) got a console that took all cards.
Then I got an all purpose card reader... But RCA refused to update their driver and told us we'd just have to buy a new camera... :bastard:
Told em to go to ....

Hi, I got an Olympus C-750 Ultra zoom. It has 4 megapixels with 10x optical zoom and I can't remember what digital zoom it had. I like it, I have taken wonderful pictures, and the zoom is great. The only bad thing is that you can't really use all of the zoom, meaning if you zoom it at the max the image won't stabilize and your picture will turn out blurry. This is easily rectified with a tripod.-raven
