MANY years ago, I saw a news story about a guy who held up a store with a gun but the police surrounded the place and the guy was trapped inside with several hostages. One of the hostages asked to be released in exchange for letting the guy shoot the hostage in the leg. The guy agreed, shot the hostage in the leg and the hostage dragged himself out the door. Would you do that?

depends on the other possibilities. If I thought my life was immeadiatly in danger, I probably would. But I'd try and exhaust all other options first.

Would I allow someone to shoot me in the leg to let me go?
Simply, no.
With a but:
The way I see things lately, I'd rather be sitting there not knowing what was going to happen, rather than be shot and let go. *shrug*

I can't figure out why someone would let a hostage go just because he got to shoot him in the leg. :huh:

It depends on the whole circumstance.

If my life was in super immediate danger, then duh, shoot the leg. The left leg, if you please, as it has all the damned injuries -_-;;;
If not. . . I'd wait it out. Hiding behind the candy rack or something. *feels like she's being quizzed for a place in "clerks"*

I wouldn't have to..not many armed robbers expect to have armed hostages ;)

I say no, simply because you can't trust such a person to keep his word. He might shoot you in the leg, but not let you go, or even kill you just for kicks. So you see, you can't be sure what he will do.

Oh well, takes all kinds..I'd be in favor of keeping my mouth shut, not attracting any attention and fervently hoping that the whole mess was over soon! I quite agree, that anyone who would go into a place with a gun and rob it probably isn't someone particularly trustworthy or predictable. The miniture golf course I was working at was robbed a few years ago, and believe me....I wouldn't have trusted that guy at all--just looking in his eyes was enough to convince me he was either crazy or totally strung out on drugs and totally dangerous. Luckily he got the money and ran before the cops arrived. Still, it's the sort of experience that makes it's mark on your psyche.

Yes, and there is nothing worse then being dead and shot in the leg on top of it! ;)

No. If I were to be shot, it should mean all the hostages are free, safe and sound.
(And they'd better shoot me dead, instead of mildly injuring me.)

Would I do it? Hell no. If he sheds my blood he's going to pay for his pleasure by shedding buckets of his.
