I've arrived at the point where after considerable thought, I'm packing up my bags and permanently leaving this community. I mean seriously folks have you looked around you lately??? I was hoping to find a network of fellow practicioners and friends who were working on various goals relating to the practice and furtherance of the craft. A place where one could freely exchange ideas, interact with other magi, and improve on ones understanding and use of practical magick.

Sadly what I find is endless rambling about non-pagan nor magickal topics and very little that I could not find in non-pagan chat rooms. Sadly this is not what I am seeking, and so I must venture forth to resume my quest in my search for a place where I can learn, and in small way perhaps share my knowledge with those who are seeking to learn a craft that preceeds time itself.

I have met some of you through the community, and have made a few enemies, and happily a lot more firends. You have shown you can work towards a common goal and that there is enormous potential here...but so much time seems to be spent on meaningless discussions about inane topics that I find myself drained and restless.

An old Dragon sighs, flexes his wings and without a backwards glance rises into the evening skies. Higher and higher he rises flying in circles until he is a tiny speck which drifts away like a spark from a dying fire. Does anyone notice his departure... and more importantly, does anyone even care....:D

Goodbye and thanks for all the fish...;) "Red"

This community was not meant for only the craft, it was a community for pagans to get together and speak with one-another, so as not to feel alone. Well that is what I got from it. We do have different forums on Magick and Rituals and Astrology and such, and I hardley call it mindless babbling. I have learned more from here than I have anywhere else or from anyone. It is has helped me so much to progress as a pagan. And it has also taught me that there are those who think they do not need to progress. Not that you are one of them, but what you are saying sounds very unreasonable. Will you give us a chance to respond? Will you even read this? I do not think that the problem is insufficient information, but information you think you don't need. Mol has worked his butt up to try and appease everyone on the board, next to his busy schedule, and is this is how we repay them? By packing up and leaving just because, I don't think it is good enough for me. Just because we don't have everything you need does not mean you have to leave! You can still come around and post and help those who need help, or are you to good for them too?

I do not mean to sound so aggresive, but you have hurt me.:( And others who could have benefited from your wisdom. I hope you find what you seek.:(

Some of us have work, families, hobbies, friends, and other considerations in our life beyond magick. Personally I value a place wherein I can learn about the Craft, and feel at home as well. Too bad you don't feel the same.

Merry part.

Hi Red, I, for one, will be sad to see you leave completely. I hope you will pop in once in a while...especially in the Divination Forum. I've been working with my crystal ball & that was with thanks to your thread. I don't have much yet but it's only been a short time & I know these things take time as with anything new. Take care, ok?

Red,
I'm sorry you havn't gotten much out of Mystic Wicks. . . I know that I get more every day.
Sure, not everything is spells and magick and hexes and occult studdies and stuff. . . but it's a wonderful place to meet people with the same views as you and become friends. . . or meet people with completely different views and debate and rant and still become friends.
Sure, a lot of the community is "Everything Goes" to a point. . . but, to a point, so is Paganism. Everyone has their own view and belief, everyone has their own path. We can all learn just from talking to other people. You don't even need to post, just drift around the threads, read, gain wisdom. Laugh at the jokes and irony and cute things. . . cry at the sad and lonely things. . . feel hope for the future with everyone else.

Mystic Wicks isn't a spell book. It isn't a catalogue of occult articles. It's a community of people. I would suggest a library if you don't want the "meaningless discussions" and "inane topics." Because we're all people. We may hold pagan beliefs, but that doesn't mean we live, breathe, and talk 24-7 Magick. Heck, you can be pagan without practicing Magick. If that's all you think paganism is about then I pity you. . . you will probably not ever feel fufilled in your searches if you aren't searching for the most important thing in life: people. Friends. a group or place, even if just online, that you can call home and feel accepted for who you are.

If, after reading everyone's replies, you still feel this is not the place for you, I respect your feelings and bid you a good journey, and I hope that you find what you're looking for.

But please, give it a little more time. Discover what it's all truely about.

People here are caring about you. . . show a bit of caring towards them. I've never seen you speak, never met you, never knew you existed until now. But seeing as you've been part of our community, and knowing that we will suffer a loss at your leaving, then I must say I will miss you. Every individual brings us all together and brings a special unique bit to the whole. And that will be terribly missed.

May those who you believe in be with you, and good fortune to you, Red Dragon. And I hope you decide to stay.

I would like to say that if Red Dragon does chose not to return he will miss some wonderfull people and the information they bring to the boards. I am very glad to have this place where I learn so much in terms of occult knowledge and personal growth but I do know that this isn't the place for everyone. RedDragon your wisdom will be missed.

people make their choices and live with the consequences stemming from said choices.

i wish you well, red, and hope that you have made the right decision for you.

I will not say what you have done is right, nor wrong, for it is not for me to try and persuade people to share my opinions.

Our doors are always open to those with an open mind.

I hope you do return at least once to read these replies.

We all, at some point, must leave thing and others in a quest for what we are seeking.

I pray the energies of the universe guide you on your journey.

And, Yes, many of us here do care.

Merry Part, Friend.

I'd like to thank those who expressed their best wishes and understand the simple fact that a choice is a choice and mine alone to make. :)

I am not being selfish nor inconsiderate in taking my knowledge eslewhere despite the apparent bitterness this has brought out in some of you via e-mail and here on the boards.

To those who have displayed their pettyness or would wish me ill over what is in essence my own personal decision, I can only say "Beware of disturbing an old dragon, you may find you get more than you bargained for! Hee,hee"

It is best to leave sleeping dragons lie so to speak. :D

Well about disturbing the dragon. I am not very afraid, nor do I regret what I said. Wi wish you could stay red. You have helped me. YOur wisdom has helped me in many ways. I just wanted you to share that with others. But now you are leaving. And I thought that there should be more a reason than just not feeling your educational needs. I think there should be something more, before you just pack up and leave your friends. There should be more reason. I am sorry if this is taken as screaming at you. I am not, I am simply trying to get you to reconsider what you are doing. I want you stay. As do others. Please don't leave:(

:( Sad to see you go, Red. I hope that you have indeed made friends on the board and that you can leave those nasty enemies behind. :) I also hope that you can take away some positives from your experiences here.

Good luck in your search, and may you find that community you are looking for.

And hey, drop by and say "HI!" sometime! :)

Blessed Be,

Dear Red,

Sorry I didn't get the chance to know you. However..can I just ask one small question? Did you ever consider starting a forum specifically geared to your interests? Did you post threads, often, and get no response to them?

I'm just curious as to what you thought, specifically, was "babble.".

I hope you find a new "home", one that seems to fit your needs. Good luck, and best wishes on your journey.

I'm completely not speaking for Red here :), but starting a forum about his specific area of interest and he being the moderator of that forum might achieve part of what he's looking for. What do you think, Red? (assuming you're still reading this particular thread :))

Either way, I think you had a creative idea, Danus. :) Thumbs up to you! :D

Red I know how you feel at times and it just makes me stay off of certain threads for a while!! Some people are just not as kind about some subjects and tend to think they have the only opinion and slamm all others for expressing theirs. Unfair it is, but they will only keep getting more agressive if I put my 2 cents in and express my opinion of what a butt head I feel they are!!

I just had 2 breaks from the site in the last 3 months and hope that won't happen again because I missed it so bad being away. I do hope you find you Knowledge and Journey you are looking for and return to us soon. You will be missed...........Sherry;)

Merry part Great Dragon! I'll miss you Red. May the Gods help you find what you need.

On a side note, its not easy to find a place where only education and expanding your studies are focused. I am a member of one of the few Pagan Community centers, if there are any others, in the country. Earlier this year there was a minor, not for those directly involved, "witch war" over a similar subject. These people were not happy that our center wasn't "more spiritual" and only taught classes. They disliked the "party atmosphere" of Fri and Sat nights but couldn't understand that that is where most of the budjet came in. The center has regular classes but they seemed to not attend. They put our center in jeopardy over thier idea for a perfect Pagan place.

What I'm trying to get at is with Pagans it is hard to find a place where it is only about learning with minimal "partying". Socializing is part of being Pagan IMHO. Making bonds that go beyond teacher and student, building community. It also seems you meet people who you feel like you've known for ages and you can't help but just talk with them. Me and my husband started there with just going to the 101 classes and now we go over to the teacher's house for open circle. It is very social before and after circle. During circle its still very social unless there's magick to be done. My husband goes to Drum Jam. Its like people are always talking. Anyways....

Maybe you should try a cyber coven or somewhere that is set up for a teaching circle more specifically. i hope you find what you need. :D

I feel a lot of you have expressed your opinions and am touched by your kind words and suggestions. :)

I am not so much looking for a specific site that offers only teahing and serious stuff, but am somewhat frustrated when reading forums such as just talk and seeing how far we seem to wander from the important things that make our community so interesting... It is necessary to take a step back and just relax and have a few laughs. Everyone has their own ideas of what and how they participate and this old dragon sometimes forgets this. I will for now remain among you and hopefully be able to keep things in perspective. ;)

The big red Dragon turns and rolls over into a long screaming powerdive straight at the moat. Landing with a terrific splash, he sends cascading water flooding the porch and uprooting its occupants spilling lemonade everywhere. With a deep satisfied sigh, he belches a small flame which once again lights up the night! (or is it Knight??) Hee,hee :D

Wow! Don't know how I missed this post. Sorry bout that.

I am so happy to find that you have decided to stay ol' firebreather.
I feel that everyone here is a treasured part of what I refer to as me extended family. It would be a terrible loss to lose anyone from here.

Sometimes we do wander off topic, but as with any family, we share all aspects of our lives. Good and bad, joy and sorrow, bitter and sweet. To me, it is all balance.
Most of us will only ever be blessed enough to discuss our lives with each other via this board and I love to hear about everything that anyone feels like gabbing about. That is what builds stronger bonds between people and builds love and trust, and I love everyone here. So, I am very happy you have decided to stay. :):):):):)

i came to this thread a bit late to hope you'd stay, i'm pleased you have though. i think danustouch has a good idea, open your own forum in mystic wicks like the druids and others and see if you can attract like minded people to enjoy studying with you. i've seen your posts in the past and you do, i think, have something worthwhile to contribute here.

Red,

We go way back. I still remember when you were first trying to get signed up here and all the trouble we went through to get everything working..

When I saw your post I was actually hurt...I was going to email you and tell you how much I wanted you to stay with us, but decided to let this Community show what it was really all about.

And it did.

As I knew it would...Im glad you are staying with us old friend...

:( I'm sorry I didn't get to know you. And I'm sorry that you didn't find what you were looking for. However, I do not see what it was you didn't like. Perhaps this is just a non-pagan-but-learning point of view, but I like the community. I have learned a lot here and I like that I, a non-pagan, can feel welcome here and make friends and learn without being shunned because I am not pagan.

I'm terribly sorry that you did not enjoy the community, but perhaps if you give it a second chance you will see what it is that so many people are defending...

Either way, blessed be.
