I know I haven't been on except for sporadically for awhile, things have been very hectic. As many of you know, 6 or 7 months ago I posted an energy request for Melissa and her family. Your posts touched her quite a bit back then, and they gave her hope.
Just thought I'd let you know that her light is going out, and there is nothing more to do about it medically. She has gone thru 7 months of experimental chemo and various other treatments. To say that these treatments have been hell would be an understatement. She has begged her parents to stop these treatments, and they have finally agreed to do that.
She left the hospital yesterday, and should be strong enough to make the trip home in a few weeks. She doesn't want anyone to know that she is coming home to die. She is still more concerned with our feelings than her own.
Her fight will be over within 2-3 months, and I pray that when it is time it isn't too horrifically painful. I'm asking once again for energy for her to make it peaceful. And for her family. They have been thru so very much.
I just got off the phone with her mother. Her strength is amazing, but it's only because she doesn't have any other choice. I know that when the day arrives she will be devastated, as will her husband that still believes he is not really going to lose his daughter, and her sister that is only 18 months older and very close. This family is so close to the breaking point. So please, in whatever devotions you may do, include them once or twice. They live next door to me, so I will be doing whatever I can... but it just seems so terribly inadequate.
