hello, all.
i do not do this often, but i would really appreciate some help and support here. this is not even for myself, but for a very good friend of mine.
here is the situation.
about 4 years ago, Allan was working on his car, standing bent over the engine, fixing something, while another car, with 2 girls in it, drove right into him, greatly damaging the car and injuring my friend. he is now in his 50's so you can imagine how much damage was done to him- it really messed up his back, somehow, from what the doctors say, making the spine slightly curve the other way.
for a few years he could not even work ( he is in show business) because of the back pains and problems- he was constantly going to therapy, getting treated, hoping to get better- but all of little or no use. the fact that he could no longer do his work resulted in the fact that he had to sell his house and his studio, now living in a tiny apartment, and desperately trying to get his life back on track.
he girls who hit him , when the police arrived, were denying their fault, and lying about what happened, to the point where they called him 'tall, menacing and drunk'. ( the guy is very short, he has not had a drink many many years now and is very opposed to alcohol.). so, he decided to to sue them. after a number of years spent with lawyers, doctors getting the countless tests and evlauations, after having the private investigators follow him around to see whether there really was an injury, he is as mentally exhausted as one can possibly be.
a few weeks ago, there was a first hearing with a judge. the other side simply laughed at him and offered a settlement of 2,500 dollars, which would not even cover the legal costs.
starting tomorrow, he has about 12 days of the trial.
i have known him for a while now- he is very strong and positive man, but his injury and the changes that it brought to his life and his capabilities are unbelievable. the stress that he's been living under for the past few years with all the private investigators and doctors etc has completely drained him.
when i saw him today, he was not even himself anymore- although he's been waiting for the trial for a long time now, i feel that he is on the verge of simply giving up now- he is not able to take anymore of this. he simply seems crushed.
the next 12 days ( starting at 10am tomorrow- Monday) are going to decide the next step in his life- whether he gets the settlement and recognition that he has been hurt, and tries to put his life back together, or gets disregarded and remains with nothing but his injured back, trying to make ends meet- since he is not able to do what he did before. he is gotta remain strong, but i feel that he may not have the energy anymore.
i pray and hope that he makes it, and all is well.
i pray that the justice is served to the one who did wrong, and that Allan finds some closure and peace.
and it would be really appreciated if anyone could wish the same for him, since now he needs all the support he can get.
...thank you...
