View Full Version : Faux Fur Obsession

I think that I'm getting obsessed with fake fur. I just ordered another faux fur jacket, (golden brown, sheared). I already have a jeans jacket with fake mink collar and cuffs, a chocolate suede jacket with fake fur collar and cuffs, and a back up of the first jeans jacket, for when it wears out.

The back up jacket was sent by mistake, but I decided to keep it for next year. I find faux fur so comforting, like I have an animal with me, or like I am one. I have other items of clothing that I need more but I just did what I did.

It was a really nice jacket for $99.00. There are a lot of tacky faux fur jackets out there and once you make up your mind to have one, you have to wade through a lot of stuff to find the good stuff. Also, many full fur jackets make people look short and chunky if they don't watch out.

Or is this just a justification for an obsession? I need a haircut. I have two inches of uncolored roots. I need new glasses. That's all complicated to deal with. I'd rather buy a new "fur" coat.

I feel just perfect in my "fur" coats, like I was born an animal.

Am I just searching for comfort and becoming a new type of shopaholic? Or does it even matter? All I know is I did what I did.

I think its all that need to feel chic and rich. I used to wear a lot of fake fur... some of it so good that I would get razzed about it badly enough that I quit wearing it. Guess a vegetarian can't even wear fake fur. Hehe. I understand your obsession... go with it, you sexy thang!

Thanks. I think you're right. I also get static for wearing "fur." What I finally figured out is that a lot of people need glasses. I am a walking eye test. I wore the suede jacket into a vegetarian health food store and people were looking at me like I was a murderer. I couldn't figure it out until I realized it was the suede, not the obviously fake fur. I hadn't thought of that.

Hi Ceruleun,

I've never been a 'fur' person, I always felt a tad too frumpy when I put on anything furry. However, this year I bought a new winter jacket...I knew exactly what I was looking for but couldnt find one anywhere. I love long jackets (though, Im relatively tall so I can pull them off) and I was hunting a suede shearling jacket. Unfortuantly I couldnt find what I wanted anywhere and so, after 2 days of going to every store in the Columbus area, I went ahead and got the only one I had seen that was even close.

It has faux fur on the cuffs and it is my first experience actually wearing anything furry. So far I like the jacket...but, I have to be very careful that I never wear this jacket out to the barn...seems like that damn fur picks up every burr and twig in a 2 mile radius. Aside from that I like it and it is very warm (of course that could be due to the fact that it is a full-length suede jacket *chuckle*)

Anyway I think everyone has a weakness...something that they love to buy more than anything else. For me its new equipment for the horses...I swear if I buy another saddle pad the tack trunk will explode! So, no, I dont think there is anything wrong with indulging yourself in fur!

til next time

---Target had really cool fake fur blanket/thows,
Fake ermin/mink/sable [i think]...
They are pretty , soft and the mink and ermin actually look real untill your right on them... the sables pretty to, just not overly realistic...
But hey for between 20-30 depending on size it's a good deal for a cool snuggly soft throw...
