Well you can meditate and ask to be sent one... if you have pets you might have one already. Just watch to see if it is interested in your magickal work and if you have a special closeness to it. If you have the feeling you will know it..

Well you design a ritual for yourself wherein you ask to be sent one. Just think of things that remind you of pets or familiars, such as pictures of a familiar you'd like, the colour brown for animals, earth for nature (and thus animals), maybe Artemis because she's a Goddess of animals, etc. Use anything you want that makes you think of pets and familiars and design yourself a ritual. Don't be surprised though if it takes you months to find one or you ask for one kind of familiar and get another kind. This just means that you aren't ready right now or that the one you think you should have isn't the one that's best for you (ie. if you ask for a snake as a familiar and get a cat instead because that might be easier for you to work with).... good luck!
