Is it a cold-sore on the outside of the lip, or is it one of those funky acid blisters inside the mouth?

I've got a cold sore (again) and I'm not sure I can afford OTC meds (again). Any suggestions?

Lemon balm is excellent for cold sores. You can make a tea of 4 tsp of lemon balm to 1 cup boiling water. Steep 20-30 mins. Dab the tea on the spot 3-4 times a day. You can also use the mushy tea leaves as a compress for a bit of extra healing.
Lemon balm contains antiviral components that fights off this virus.
If you don't have lemon balm, you can use other mints. Lemon balm is the strongest.

Another option, clove oil has antiseptic properties, but use it sparingly.

Canker sours are in the mouth and Cold Sours are on the outside, I found that the easiest way to get rid of a canker sour was to gargle salt water. It takes away the moisture and makes it go away. And sorry I have no idea how to get rid of a cold sore8O
