That does sound like a great device. I just hope no one figures out a way to bypass it.

yep, heard about that device, haven't seen one around though. good idea, maybe all motorized vehicles should one as standard equipment, public or private, yes?
of course, sales of liquer filled candies would suffer greatly....

Hi all!
They have such a devoce here in Oklahoma so a person can keep driving after a DUI conviction. The person has to blow in a tube to start the car,if they've been drinking,it won't start. It will also make a noise while one is driving and they have to blow right then or the car dies and won't restart.I worry that the blowing while driving is a distraction. Also,it costs a couple of hundred dollars to install, and every time you work on the car you have to pay these people 60-70 bucks.Every time your battery goes dead,or you need a jump start, depending where you are,it can cost another 100 or so to have them come out and reset the machine.
I've read recently that people who talk on a cell phone while driving are just as dangerous as the drunk driver. Also certain elderly people are as dangerous as drunk drivers.I read that people changing their radio stations or CDs are as dangerous as the drunk driver.People who have a soft drink,or who smoke while driving, are also said to be as dangerous as the drunk driver.
It kind of makes me wonder if anyone is really fit to drive!(:
It also makes me think some people who drink and drive might do just fine.
Just an opinion folks.
Peace and Love

just a few thoughts about removing the licence of any idiot who gets nailed for impaired:
first off, should the person be stopped from drinking, NOT driving? some of them are excellent drivers, very poor drinkers.
secondly, what kind of punishment is it for this person to henceforth be chauffeured around like a politician putting everyone else at a disadvantage?
ok, it's easy enough to say "let him/her walk, use public transit, bicycle etc!" but in practice this isn't very feasible, this person still will have to get to work on time, pick up groceries, take a sick kid to the hospital, yadayadda.
what may you think?

I definitely agree about the person being stopped from drinking, but while there are no guarantees/surefire ways to do that, in the meantime, I don't want the drunk on the road, you know? I'd rather him put his friends at a disadvantage than kill my mother on the road.

yeh, thats a very good point. I, though, think that my idea is the best...heres my idea for an invention to help cut drink-driving...
Basically, its a breathelyser (sp?!?!?!?) in your car, and the car won't start unless you pass the test. I'm sure there are many disadvantages to this idea, but I haven't really sat down and thought about it yet, lol...:D

I saw on the news somewhere that such a device is waiting approval for use.... at least here in B.C......
