I got an email today that stated the most bizzare misconception about witches that I have ever heard -- they witches aren't mortal.
After laughing for a while I carefully composed a reply and hopefully set some things straight....
Here's the email I recieved:
***Hi! I'm Kim I'm only a mortal.I was wondering if witches fly on a broom stick. If witches can fly on a broom stick can a mortal fly on a broom stick? I've always wanted to fly on a broom stick. I have lots of dreams on flying a broom stick but, I really want to fly on broom stick for real. I want you to tell me how to fly on a broom stick.***
I fully understand that people just don't know anything beyond what has been presented by hollywood, and so I don't mind correcting their misconceptions.
I was just wondering.... what are the more bizzare misconceptions that you've had to correct???

"Can you trun people into fairys? 'cause I wanna be a fairy, then you could turn me and my boyfriend into fairys and then we'll..."
hmm... Strange question to be asking when she should have been rehearsing for the play.

My favourites;
"Can you make my ____ (insert name of male appendage here) bigger?"
"No you're not, Witches aren't real!!" (why of course, my friend, I am only a figment of your imagination)

"Are you gonna, like, turn me into a frog now?"

I, too, have people fearing that I will turn them into a frog.

Actually, the biggest misconception I've ever had brought to me was brought when I was younger. I was raised Mormon(yeah, yeah) and a girl at my middle school asked me, in all honesty, how did I hide my horns? And would I show them to her. She had evidently been told that Mormons were some kind of hellspawn and you could always spot a mormon by the horns....bizarre. To this day, I wonder how if adults realize how much children actually trust what they say....

LOLOLOL....and can she say "broom stick" any more???? This is very similar to a question I had to answer not too long ago...thankfully it was only my eight year old son that asked if, because I was a witch, could I fly? I told him very gently that real witches CAN fly, but only in planes and in their dreams :)

Is that the word you were looking for.
Fly on a "broom Stick"? So she shall.
Good to know this "man-witch" is not real.
*straddles broom-stick to fly home*
*saving up for a Hoover*.
