When you cleanse a tool, you remove or exorcise the old energies that other people have wittingly or unwittingly impressed upon it. Depending on the nature of the tool, there are a number of ways to cleanse it.
Crystals like quartz, amethyst and citrine can be cleaned easily by soaking them in a lukewarm bath into which you have tossed a couple of pinches of salt (negative energy doesn’t like salt), then rinse them with clear water. Make sure that your crystal isn’t too cold or too hot and that the water is lukewarm, or the crystal might crack. Use a mild dishwashing liquid solution and a nail brush to scrub big clusters.
You can also set your crystals out in the sunlight for a day, that will usually clear up any psychic turbulence.
