a candle holder, maybe 5 or 6 inches tall, of a blonde mother in a robe protecting 2 children, a boy and a girl. She's all glittery, and there are cut-outs of stars on her so that when you light the candle, Her light shines through. :)

For the God, I have a small white terminated crystal, and for the Goddess, I have a black button. :D (practicality is my middle name!) :D

My candle holders are all clear, but I use a green candle to represent the Goddess, as that's what is called for in my Tradition. I have a questin, though, and that is why do you all use the black candle?

For the Goddess, I have a Red Candle and a puter(sp?) candle holder in the shape of a woman swimming - or so it seems. The God is that of a Sun shaped candle holer and a Green Candle. Between Beltane and Samhain, the Goddess faces East, otherwise, she faces West. The God always faces Her.
I only use black candles for banishing rituals and only during waning moons.

Black and White balance eachother, Black represents the Goddess, White the God. Presumably because the darker, mysterious aspect of black work well with our images of the Goddess and her own mysteries.
This is usually on the left, as the Goddess is (at least, IMHO and understandings). Interestingly this coincides with the myths behind the "left hand path" being evil and "left-handers" as well, according to superstition based on some Christian myth (ie. God is Man, Women are Sinners).
((AS ALWAYS this is all my personal opinion and from my own experience and is not meant to suggest anyone else is wrong! :)))

I have a little brass statue of the Venus of Willendorf. She's about 3" high. She doesn't always stay there, though. Sometimes, I carry her around in my pocket.

Well okay, you asked so....on my main altar...A large white candle represents my main God which is Athena.
I also keep a representation of the season aswell...which I am doing now with a candle with suns painted on it.
Soon when I incourporate Zeus into my worship, I will prolly have a white candle for him aswell. I prefer whites when I can. But I draw symbols on them sacred to their specific God. :D
Cool question.

I don't have any statuary of the Goddess or God per se on my altar, but I have a picture that I got from a Green Egg magazine a few years ago depicting the Maiden, Mother and Crone. It was a sort of "centerfold" in the magazine, but it was printed on nice paper and it's a very beautiful painting. That hangs on the wall directly in front of my altar, and that's what I use for a Goddess image. The God is represented for me by a candle, different colors depending on how I feel and what time of year it is. There's also a Goddess candle and the same thing applies.

I have a fertility buddha that was given to me about 10 years ago by a friend of my Mom's. I also use a green candle and a red candle for the God.

I use three white candles, placed in brown, earthy, candle holders that I made in a pottery class about 10 years ago. The left one is inscribed as Goddess, the right one as God. The centre one I think of as The One God, or sometimes The Divine Child. I also think of the three candles as being representative of the Triple Moon Goddess.
Cool, to learn others practises and interpretations.

Thanks, WR! :D My Gwyddon brain couldn't comprehend the black candle = Goddess thing. But that makes perfect sense. ;)

I just spoke with a friend Saturday night who uses white for Goddess and black for God too. I think in some ways this makes sense to me too. When we think of the God so often we think of him as the Hunter, the Protector, the Destroyer, and the Goddess as the Creator (not always, I realize), so maybe that choice makes sense too. I just picked up a gold candle and silver candle for my altar as well - silver for Goddess (moon), gold for God (sun)...

I have always looked upon the Earth as the Goddess and Diana (the Moon) as the sister. On the Esbat, I burn a candle for Diana, usually an off color like Yellow or, purple. The Goddess (candle) is always Red, save Samhain (orange) and the God is always Green (Always). I only use Black on a waning moon for banishing.

I went to the Dollar Tree today with my mom, and she bought me the neatest statuette, which now resides on my altartop. It's a nude woman sitting on her knees, with her hair flowing over one shoulder and down her back. It's painted all in black.
Now, to find a male figure to go with her! :D

8O....Ideally, I'd use a gardenia to represent both god and goddess...the earth in the pot represents the goddess, the air it breaths the god, the plant itself symbolizes thier intermingling, and the blooms thier creations.....but since i seem to have a black thumb with gardenias I use a Jasmine.....

Mairwen..we have dollar tree's here in RI, too!!!!!! Gods..I love those stores! For the longest time, my God and Goddess statues that sat on my altar, were purchased from a dollar store. I had a miniature statue of Merlin, as the God..and a miniature statue of a fairy, as my Goddess. But..around Yuletide of last year, my hubby and I were shopping in a pagan store, and I saw the most beautiful ceramic God and Goddess statues I had ever seen. Actually, I think they are meant to be bookends..but oh well..they are my God and Goddess statue now. They are ceramic, painted to look like wood. The Goddess representation is Cerridwen, complete with her Cauldron sitting in her lap. She has the moon above her head. And rabbits (a fertility symbol)..around her feet. On the back, there is a beautiful engraving of a pentacle. And dancing naked women. The God statue is of Herne. A big, burly bearded man (leaves in his beard) with stags antlers. He holds a staff. On the back of the statue, are engraved men, with erect phallus'. Anyway..I wanted them badly..but they were very expensive. So I never dreamed. Well..unbeknownst to me, hubby had my friend go and put them on lay-away. And Yule Eve, They were under the tree. I love these statues so much, and they mean even more to me, because my hubby surprised me SO well with them :)
P.S. I actually ALSO use two candles. But for me, its Red for the Goddess (the association in my mind, being menstrual blood and fertility)..and White for the God.

I change it around, but currently; Black candle for the Goddess- mainly because I think of her as the moon, night, sky ect. A yellow candle for the God- the sun, day, earth. I also sometimes use the Lord and Lady tarot cards from Sacred Circle deck.
I haven't found any statues that I like yet, but I'm looking.

www.wicca.com has some really nice statues.
I have my tools on my alter and they represent different aspects of the Gods. I have a brooch with Artemis on it. As soon as I can get a statue of Athena that I like, that will go on there. I also may be grabbing my sister's statue of Kwan Yin...

to represent the goddess and her path accross the night time sky, i use a white candle for her begining, a blue one for her middle, and a black one for her end. symbolizing her movements accross the sky in a full cycle of the moon :)

I have river rocks on my alter. I associate water with the Goddess. I have noticed that other religions refer to rivers and oceans as being female - Oshun and Yemaya for example.

Fey witch - that's too cool - i found some antlers on the beach last new year's eve and I have that for my god energy. For Goddesses, I have a little votive holder that looks like three Venuses of Willendorf in a circle facing outward, and a little Kwan Yin (sometimes she travels with me, though). Oh and Xois, I have three moon snail shells, little, bigger, and biggest, for the maiden, mama, crone. Actually, all over my house on shelves and window sills are little triplets of moon snail shells. She is everywhere!
Great thread, btw
