:D So let me tell you a little story.
Wednesday I went to my first all Pagan gathering/dinner/meeting thingy.
I was nervous mostly because I don't get out a lot, and also because I don't network, or hadn't until recently.
It was small, 10-15 people there...met for dinner and talked mostly. At first I didn't really talk at all...everyone there looked so...different from well...let me say that everyone had the feel of being uh...how to say, different.
I guess now that I think about it, I was more comfortable there than I have been at many times in my life. And, I felt the urge to commune with Gods and nature right there....it was a moving time...and really, I don't know why.
I was at first intimidated...but then when I got comfortable with them, it was so fun. We talked about all sorts of thing. And, what started out as nerve wracking turned into a friend making experience.
Hmm...I hadn't really met any Pagans before that I could speak openly about it to. And, I want to say that everyone I met had a very different felling aura (for lack of a better word) or spirit than I have known. It was spiritual, even though the talk was mainly light.
I guess I'm saying that you shouldn't allow yourself to be intimidated by age or what you percieve to be experience levels. I was the youngest person there....however, I was not the least experienced with Paganism and other aspects of it.
Meeting people is hard sometimes...but it is rewarding at other times.
Also, I was wondering if anyone had similar experiences...(without all the babbling, like i did....lol).
It makes me think that....well, it's a Pagan thing. :D :D

Good for you! You go girl!
I'm sure it helped boost your confidence! Its good to take risks every now and then. :D

When we walked into Betwixt & Between, the local Pagan community center, we could feel it was different. We left with a very excited feeling. It is great. The building is charged with a different sort of energy and it makes great changes in your life. The downside for some people is that it is a very old building, around 100 years, and they say they feel the negativity in it from being a club in the past and what not. I don't have a problem with that or the spirits that inhabit it. i think the positive energy it holds now overides the past resonenses but that's just me. I find it a very magickal place.

May you find good friends and never thirst. :)

Yep, Shy, I know exactly how you feel....I've started hanging out with other Pagans (I've just recently found more than a few in my area), and it really is a 'pagan thing', even when the conversation is not about paganism. There's a real sense of well-being when you know that the person you are with believe at least some of the same things you do. It's easier to open up when the word Goddess doesn't bring a gasp of shock! And I'm probably babbling (lol, try to say THAT five times fast!) so I'm going to close this for now. I'm glad that you had such a good time :)

How neat that you could feel the others' energy :) And thank you for giving such a good report too. I have not met any other Pagans myself IRL. Well, my neighbors are and I have known them for 6+ years. I wasn't Pagan when we met and it just hasn't come up. My husband keeps telling me I should talk to them, but I don't want them to think I am a bunny (as cute as bunnies are he he :D). Anyway, my babbling point is that I am pretty shy about meeting new people and you gave me a bit of hope that someday I will get to meet some awesome Pagans to hang with!

Chris
PS How do you find these places and/or people? I have looked in the semi-local bookstore and some of the health food stores and have had no luck.

:)

Do they have any woods nearby?
We often meet deep in the woods, absolutely magical, beautiful, full of wonderful positive energy! Downside to that is - we never want to go home, and always arrive hours later than we tell the family!! hehe

Wow, I didn't think so many people had something to say on this! Well, my advice looking for local Pagans is none other than Yahoo! Clubs.
When I searched for Pagan/Wiccan/Druid/Heathen (any many other things) clubs I got thousands of clubs....so I narrowed it down, and searched by region, got to the section on Ohio Pagans, and joined that club. Also...there were a few more narrowed down, like Cleveland and Columbus Pagans. As well as Akron/Canton (I'm in Canton area) Pagans. So I joined a couple of clubs....well several, but you don't have to.
And, talked to people right around me. Some are involved in UU churches, some actually have their own Pagan temple (type thing)...several own Pagan stores...so you see, it was easy after that.
I met people my age and beyond, people of my experience and those with more or less...people on a path similar to my own, and many varied paths aswell.
It was great, I recommend Yahoo! Clubs.
Some clubs are less active then others, so experiment a little.
As for everyone else, thanks for listening...such nice people. :D
