This particular dream has not bothered me for some time (about 2 years) but recently it came back and I still have no idea as to what it means, my dream books are of no help to me. heres the dream. It starts with me standing in the middle of a dessert of black sand I turn around and I see a rather large black pyrmid(sp) with some thing carved on it around the top I cant make it out , the dream fades out about there but has started to go just a little longer each time. Could ya help me understand it or help me make it go away it disturbs me.

Why does it disturb you? What about it disturbs you? Do you feel drawn to the pyramid or repelled, or afraid what might be inside?
It could represent a goal in your life that you're trying to achieve or an ideal you're trying to reach or a distant fear orrrr just a random dream (it does happen:))

Have you tried taking yourself to that place in a meditation? Maybe that would allow you to go further and figure out the meaning of it.

Hmm...
It instantly reminded me of the movie, The Mummy Returns. If you haven't seen the movie, there's a dark god who's power turns the sands black with shadows in the shapes of scorpions. Granted, the pyramid in that movie was gold, but to be honest, I think black would have made more sense. Heh heh. In any event, for some reason your dream just instantly reminded me of the movie, so maybe there's a relation there. My mind today is sketchy though, and I can't remember the name of the god in that movie... If any of you have seen it and can remember, maybe it'd be of help.
Bright Blessings,

The god in the movie The Mummy Returns, who gave his power to the "Scorpion King", was Anubis :)
Pyramids (according to Mary Summer Rain's Guide to Dream Symbols, one of my favourite dream books) can represent higher learning or wisdom. Being black, and you being disturbed by the dream could mean that you are facing something you are scared of, perhaps you are at a place where it's time to move on, but you don't want to.
Or it could be a past life recollection that ended in a bad way therefore giving you a "bad" feeling in the dream.
I would love to hear more on the dream, especially any symbols on the pyramid.

my interpretation:
black can either be an absense of all light, or it can be a culmination of all color. black also blocks out all energy from going in or out.
the desert is probably a symbol of some kind of journey (it might be personal or an actual physical trip), and the sands being black probably denote some kind of "lack of direction" and "guidance"
Deserts are notorious for being mysterious, misleading, and deadly.
Pyramids are also a symbol of mystery, but also a symbol of power.
Perhaps this whole dream is point to the fact that you must continue to journey into what seems like dangerous or unknown territory to find the secret (the carved symbol you cannot decipher yet) to your inner questions and to find your inner power and whatnot.

I think that the black desert in your dream, represents the universe, space. The pyramid with the writing is something that you can't get to..it's just out of reach..but it's all the hidden knowledge that you want to know. It bothers you, because it's the unknown, which you can't understand at this point. I think it means that you are on the verge of understanding all of these secrets. It's a mystical time for you..you are on the "Brink" of knowing. The pyramid is a symbol of the seven chakra's of the body....being that the writing you could not decipher was all at the "Top" of the pyramid....I would suggest that it means that it is Knowledge from "God". Because the top of the pyramid relates to the top chakra..or the "Pineal Gland"..the seat of all knowledge.

for what it's worth, i've found recurring dreams something i'm trying to tell myself. they'll come back and haunt me until i do get it. [at this point i seem to be working on several issues... argh!]
is it dark/light out there? cloudy/clear? why is the pyramid behind you? do you have any feelings about climbing up to, or otherwise, trying to decipher the message? do you think it's in a language you'll understand?
black sand? or ashes? asphalt?
how about an experiment: every night when you go to sleep, tell yourself that when you see the pyramid, you'll take out a pair of binoculars out of your pocket to read the text.
and check what's on your feet...
good luck!! and sweet dreams.

Midnight Hunter,
The first thing that came to me was what Lilu said. I would definately think that it has to do with a past life. Your subconscious seems to already know what's in there.
Did you feel like you've been there before?
Does thinking of going in make you afraid?
There are a couple of things you can do.
You are not forced to find out what this means but keep in mind, you are safe now. Nothing bad can happen to you. Exploring this will probably bring you answers to something special.
If you're not ready to explore this (if it scares you) you can get rid of it. Tell yourself that you refuse to have the dream again. Put some lavender underneath your pillow (it helps).
Someone suggested meditating on it. I think that's an excellent idea, if you don't like what you find, you can leave. :)
Good luck to you!

Midnight Hunter;
See *IF* this could pertain to you. ok?
Your dream simply means that you have a fear of isolation due to your path religiously. it could be with certain family members, friends, community, work or all the above.
The color black represents--fear
The desert represents --isolation and being the middle of a desert just reinforces this for me.
pyramid represents---religious affliations.
So relax and mediatate on the 'worst' that could happen to you--envision yourself as strong, compenant, and handling the situation with grace and the issue being resolved peacefully.
You will be surprised how well it works and it helps enable you *if* the problem ever had to be confronted in the real world.
