I usually loose concentration on what I am doing & I even fall asleep when I'm meditating! Is this supposed to happen? Like I'll be imagining each part of my body getting warmer & heavier but then half way through this I will drift off into some daydream & usually I fall asleep!

It's not uncommon for people to drift off to sleep while meditation. It happens because your body becomes very relaxed,a nd your mind is somewhat at ease. Don't feel bad about it. While you are sleeping, your brain is probably still meditating

I completely agree.
And in my opinion, letting your mind just wander is a part of meditation. ;) I usually don't concentrate on a single thing if it's just a general meditation.

I don't think its a bad thing... and I agree that even if you fall asleep, your mind is still most likely in that meditative state. Do you write down your dreams upon awakening? That might give you an idea. :)
If you don't want to fall asleep, try doing something to avoid it, like systematically flexing your muscles or something similar...
Just a thought. But like the others said... don't feel bad! Its not uncommon. :)

What if I listen to music while I meditate? I have done this before, I put the radio on & I go into a really relaxed state but the music won't allow me to fall asleep. Sometimes I dont even have to try to meditate when listening to music it just naturally happens.

Try a moving meditation such as Tai Chi or Ba Dwan Chin.

Also try meditating sitting up rather than lying down. You're less likely to fall asleep. And instead of making your body heavy...try making it light instead to see if that changes anything. Try imagining that you can no longer feel your legs, then your arms, everything feels like its floating....

a meditation technique that i like is - sitting up on the floor (with my back against my bed or a wall), then closing my eyes and imagining that there are roots (like tree roots) coming out of my spine and down into the earth and i visualize as if they are holding on deep into the earth, and the earth's white energy comes flowing into the roots and up into my body...
and i feel this energy entering me and relaxing my body - it helps feel "levitated" and usually it gets to the point where you sorta dont feel your body and you're not aware its there - giving your mind an easier way of relaxing itself and "taking flight" from the physical world..
maybe if you try the sitting up position, as well as less making your body heavier (as others have suggested on here), it will prevent you from falling asleep!
good luck!

Definitely! A lot of people have relaxing music in the background while meditating. :) Good idea.

You are not alone! I used a guided meditation, was lying down, and always feel asleep! Its hard for me to sit without leaning on something due to back problems, so I always laid down. I like Morrs idea of leaning against the wall or bed.
