As I've mentioned before... I have a flying phobia. ANytime I have to fly, or anyoe close to me flies, I literally have a huge, huge panic attack. I can't psychologically deal with the concept in any way shape or form.

Well, it's spring break now. *I'm* staying home and getting some rest. But my beloved Andrew is leaving for a family vacation with his folks, they're going to France for a week. As much as *normal* flying stresses me, trans-Atlantic is even worse. At the moment I'm having my regularly scheduled "I am never going to see him again, this is the last time I ever get to hold him" panic attack. Unfortunately bad timing since I'd *rather* be in bed curled up talking to him, but the panic is so bad I'm getting clautrophobic being that physically close...

Please, if you can, spare him some thoughts of protection and safe travel. That's the most important thing for me, that he ends up safe and ok. (However, if you have an extra thought or two left over after that, I could sure use some reassurance and soothing myself. This whole thing bothers me a lot more than him... his only problems with flying are the emotional issues it causes ME...)

Poor Isil...I'm sure he'll be just fine..and I know he'll come back to you safe and sound...

But even knowing this...phobia is not a rational creature to share headspace with...and you're going to worry no matter what. So try to keep yourself distracted, and imagine Andrew safe....

Cuddle Sammy, look after yourself and try to enjoy your holidays :hugz:

I just posted this for another member who is afraid of flying. Maybe you can use it for yourself or Andrew and it will help you feel better :)

I'm petrified of flying....but we fly alot...so here's a little chant I made up that I say when I fly, and it really helps me alot. Visualize the plane surrounded by a bubble of white light and say:
I cast this magic circle round,
so all within are safe and sound,
goddess lift us in your hands,
and hold us til we safely land.
imagine the hands of the goddess carrying your plane in her hands thru the sky until you land safely
It makes me feel much calmer when I'm chanting it

Ug.... first leg of his flight is over and done with, but he got stranded in New York with all the snowstorms. They're putting him up for the night, but he still has a 7 hour flight tomorrow--or whenever the weather clears. I haven't even been able to talk to him tonight... he left a message while I was walking the dog, and his phone's been off since, to conserve batteries (the dog ate his charger cable! eep!) so I'm feeling very alone and desolate right now... not knowing if/when he'll be flying, if I"ll be asleep or out... there was NO estimate of departure time when he left the message...

Isil, :hugz:

Try to get some sleep, at least. You'll drain yourself again if you worry too much. I'm thinking of you, and sending you some calming energy... and of course, energy for a good flight (and a phone call).

He's finally in safe. I got a call round about 7 am saying he'd gotten there... they finally got the plane de-iced and flying after about 6 hours layover... so it's half done, and the next flights Sunday will bring him home to me...
