There are some BoS threads here in New Pagans as well as in the Magic Forum.
IMHO, it's been my experience that people get too caught up in making a BoS and miss a whole religious experience. Please remember that your BoS isn't your religion.

A Book of Shadows is often where a Witch keeps records of correspondences, rituals, spells, meditations, and info they learn about herbs, faeries, dragons, languages, divination tools, or any other magick-related stuff.

Word. I used to do that. I'd be more concerned with filling up that darn binder than with actually partaking in some good old meditation or ritual.

Actually, it was my joke.
I've kind've given up keeping a perfect BoS. All the correspondences and symbols I have are in other books, the few rituals I've written have all been pretty simple, besides I probably wouldn't do one twice anyway.

Lets not argue over a joke that would be stupid, lets just say the joke is funny.

But, lets not downplay the significance it has in some Path's.
Keep both sides of the coin in mind... (And that was to the starter of the thread...not you Mairwen...I know you were looking at both).

True, these days trads often keep their BoS up to date and well packed with info to pass on, as well as those parents who wish to pass heritage down.
Way back when we just memorized these things to pass on, but then often those who did that had a lot of idle time between tending the farm, cooking, and cleaning..
