I normally listen to classical music when meditating or doing a ritual but I want to try some more New Agey-stuff. Anyone know of any New Age groups that have music that can be used for dancing and calm, peaceful meditation?
thanks so much!

Lothlorien, Inkubus Sukkubus (sorry spelling might be off on that one), Trio Nocturna, Aeone, Emerald Rose, Brobdingnagian Bards, Enya, Clannad, and Lorenna McKennit.

For meditating or ritual work, I'd suggest that you check out some of Michael Harner's drumming and chanting CDs, or the drumming CDs of Glen Velez (I've got "Drumming the Chakras", which is quite good).

Not only that... Kitaro is good, Yanni, So much of Windham Hill, Constance Demby... there is a ton of it out there.. I am working on a new cd just for that purpose right now

I love Inkubus Sukkubus, but some of their stuff isn't very good for meditating (heh). Personally, I like the cd Tribe by Gabrielle Roth and the Mirrors.

Another suggestion would be videogame soundtracks. The Final Fantasy soundtracks are just awesome for meditating (well, with the exception of Otherworld from FFX), so perhaps look into those.

I am a big fan of Dean Can Dance for meditation. Their music is very tribal. Delirium is good, too.

Depends on the meditation/ritual...I really love the Kama Sutra soundtrack, Loreena McKinnit, Delerium, Sirrocco, Hossam Ramzy, Rusted Root, Afro-Celt Sound System,
and other world/dance music.

I buy those "Relaxation" or "Meditation" Cds....for $5 bucks at department or entertainment stores...they work perfectly for me...and I think they are various....not at all expensive and works very well!

ohoh 'Praise' are REALLY REALLY good, they only made one CD (Possibly called 'only you', I can't remember). I would ~highly~ recommend it. Take a look on ebay or something :)

I find Incubus to be very relaxing... in their new album "morning view" especially. The psychedelic rock is ideal for meditation, for me anyway.

I enjoy meditating to Gary Stadler ( Fairy of the Woods) this has been good also for me in that I also started to use it for astro travel. It just lends itself to that for me. :headphone

I highly recommend Enya: A Day Without Rain. It's a good mix of upbeat, relaxing, and sorrowful music and it's all rich and primal.
I'm listening to Billy Idol: Shangrila at the moment, and it's great for meditating, because it's all about mind landscapes. Unfortunately, it's only included on a CD that mostly includes apocalyptic rock :2G:.

I used to use some tribal drumming cd's, and also (I'm such a dork) my pure moods cd's... Celtic Moods is really good. ;)

I like to meditate to digeridoo music. Unfortunatley I have no idea what to reccomend on that, since all I have is a cd a friend burned for me a few years ago and I have no idea who it is. Grr.
Another great one is whale songs. There's a place online Whalesong (http://www.whalesong.net/index.htm) that has about an hour's worth they recorded one night. It's awesome.
I can't meditate to classical music to save my life. I get too caught up in the song. In fact, I used to have a couple of teachers that liked to play classical while we took tests to help us focus and it used to distract the beejaybers outta me.

I've found lately that I get more out of (believe it or not...) : Jethro Tull's front man Ian Anderson. 2 of his CDs really set my meditations to a proper note. Try Rupi's Dance and/or Divinites - 12 Dances with God ! Awesome ! His Flute work is hard to surpass.
Peace to All

I like listening to Enya and some nice CD's I found in the CD store. I usually burn mine but these were cheap and the music is good. Try candle and wiccan/pagan shops sometimes they have some really good music on the speakers. Just ask them what CD they have on.
