For reasons that have been greatly debated, our school locked up all the boy's bathrooms. Well, one is SOMETIMES open, when they remember to open it. The school hasnt given any official reason why, but its been around that its most likely grafitti. Now, this has REALLY got everyboddy mad because the guys cant use the bathrooms. If by some miricle the school remembers to unlock the one thats SUPPOSED to be open, then people are late to class because its so out of the way and they have to go to the bathroom. For the first time IN MY LIFE, I actually saw a LINE outside of a GUYS bathroom. Amazing. And the bathroom is SMALL, 2 stalls and 4 uprights with 2 sinks. Theres about 2400 students at our school, of that, about 60% are female, the remaining 40% are male. So 40% of 2400 people have to share one bathroom. Now, someone please explain the logic of shutting up the other bathrooms is? Some guy got suspended because he walked into the girls bathroom and used it, his argument was that there was a huge line outside the guys bathroom and he had to go and would get arrested if he went in the bushes so he did the best he could do. Teachers are starting to get mad too beacuse guys are always asking to go to the bathroom during class.

Now that's pretty pathetic.

Bathrooms are perfectly useable with grafitti all over them.

*mumble grumble* Don't eeeeevin get me started on how pathetic that is.

That happened to us girls in my school a while back. Not to have yours sound inferior (because it isn't) but we couldn't use the bathrooms and we had our...um...little red visitors. :gagged: Grafitti was their excuse, too. I was mad at both the school and the girls childish enough to write "Sandy is a hore" (with someone then filling in the "w" with a different coloured pen).

That's wrong... Bathrooms are a neccesity, not a priviledge. Gosh, I hate this system:goodgrief

They keep one girls and one boys bathroom open in our school. They want to keep the others one nice for visitors.
Oh yes, then there is the one down at the end of the school where the smokers go to smoke in between classes - even though that's supposedly locked as well. But I would never go in there - ew I'd suffocate. I heard the teachers go to smoke in those bathrooms.
and then in the locker rooms they don't have those boxes necessary for "womanly needs." so girls leave their trash behind the toilets. most of the time they don't have soap or paper towels. One time I got so sick and fed up that I complained at the office that there wasn't any soap and it was unsanitary. Now all the secretaries hate me.
The grafitti annoys me too, it's all "so and so is a slut and I love bob" and things like that. why even bother wasting the time?

Thats just bull*beep* and wrong! There must be a school board ore PTA that the guys can appeal too.
Maybe if enough parents got pissed off enough (and were able to do this) they should keep their kids at home(with homeschooling of course) till they rectify the bathroom situation! Nothing like causing them to loose tax dollars to re-open their eyes!

My senior year all but one set of bathrooms were closed on campus - supposedly because a) kids were going in there to smoke and b) kids were having "relations" (read: sex) in the bathrooms during school. They also took the doors off the stalls of BOTH the girls' and the guys' toilets. Parents had to finally raise enough of a stink for something to be done about it.

Oh here our teachers have thier own private restrooms acessable by keyes. Thier restrooms are attached to ours, they go into OUR restrooms and unlock a door and go into thier nice clean sweet smelling restrooms.

They did this as well at my high school. I don't really remember there reasons. Talk about frustrating, because I went to a large school, and if they actually would let you go, you had to search all over for a bathroom. Eventually I just ended up always going to my choir teacher (who loved me) and she would give me the key to the one right down the hall and I would go. Another thing was there was never soap!!! I don't think I ever saw soap in the bathroom. I compusivley wash my hands so this was naturally an issue for me. Once a week we would be privileged enough to have paper towels, but most of the time I would dry my hands on toilet paper. Ahhhh public schools, so glad to be out.

Maybe the teens who damage the bathrooms by writing graffiti or by smoking in the bathrooms should remember that, and respect the school property as well as their fellow students.

Call the health department. There are regulations in place
to enforce a legally defined ratio of functional and accessable
toilets in public buildings... If there is a problem with
the facilities preventing their use, the health department
will shut down the school until they are repaired. If they
are functional, the school will be forced to allow full access.
It is a serious threat to public health and safety having
that many people using the same restroom.

Maybe they should station guards in each rest room, armed with a camera to catch the idiots who have no respect for public property. Gods, I have a hard time believing the way kids behave now compared to when I was in high school. We weren't angels of course, but crikey, there are limits.

At my school they didn't have a problem with graffiti, or smoking, so I really don't know why they were locking them up. I think it was something about kids leaving class to go to the bathroom. They started giving teachers these sheets, were every kid who went to the bathroom had to sign a paper. Teachers were only allowed I think 30 kids have a potty break a month. So I think it ended up being every kid could only leave class to go to the bathroom once a month. At my school they would also bring in drug dogs at random to search everyone's things. I was fine with that except if you were caught with tylenol, ect you got suspened for two weeks. It was against the rules to have any tylenol ect with you. You had to have a note from your parents saying you were allowed to take this, and it had to be turned into the school nurse who would then administer the tylenol you bought to you. Ahhh how well our system works. It really is a miracle.

We had this same problem in our school (boy is that awhile ago...16 years:( ) They were locking ours b/c someone was setting fires in the trash cans.

We staged a student walk out and although some of us got suspended, we did get our bathroom priveleges back rather quickly. Parents went to the school board and got it fixed right away.

Heh... In my high school, they locked the doors at all times, and had an off duty teacher there to watch them when they were open... This was because the senior class when I was a freshman stole a sink.

And if they won't let you go to the bathroom, I would just tell them that I was going to go into the corner then and do my business... One doesn't need to be in a bathroom to relieve themself ya know...

Teachers normally let me just go to the bathroom after I told them that... :D
