My father passed away almost 3 years ago, & the remainder of his estate consists of half of the value of the house he & my stepmom lived in. She remarried in October, & is now trying to drag things out, claiming she's not ready to "make any big decisions (like whether to sell the house or just buy my sister and I out) that might cause her undue stress" (yet she had no trouble making the decision to remarry..hmm). I could sure use some good energy aimed at encouraging her to be fair & just get it over with..she's clearly moved on with her life, and my sister and I would like to do the same, but we can't get any closure over our father's death while this whole thing is ongoing. It's become quite clear that the stepmonster's a greedy money-grubbin' wench (yet crows about what a good Christian she is  ), so I'm not real hopeful that this will see any prompt conclusion, but a girl can hope, right? Any suggestions?

Celtie, my heart is with you, as I went through a similar situation with my dad's estate and step mom over the last 2 years. Things were finally settled in Sept. 2003. My only suggestion: If you do not have an attorney, hire one. My siblings and I would not have gotten a dime or any of dad's things (she had them packed for goodwill the day after the funeral!) if it had not been for my brother using his savings to hire our attorney. Energy for strength and for a good and just outcome... :hugz:
